Dear Readers (including those of you who are asking "Who is that masked unicorn?"):

I just realized I have the necessary quorum for a fandom, which is three. That's just the rule, do not question it. So while I am no Admiral Biscuit, I'm going to try to post semi-regular updates as I figure things out, including but not limited to small horse fanfiction. I'm going to call these the MT Files.

First, for those who are wondering where my Iron Author EFNW story is, I'm getting it professionally edited, and have commissioned some cover art for it. It should be up in a few weeks, hopefully. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy the other top-shelf stories from Iron Author: The Age of Nefarious by FanOfMostEverything, Keep Burning by Mica, Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss by Scampy, Conversations With a Lunar Prisoner by Steady Gaze, and Guru Gabby Griffon and the Guerrilla Giraffe Gaffe by the aformentioned Admiral of Biscuits, who was kind enough to give me one of his shirts. This must be what speedwriting recognition feels like. :twilightblush:

Second, I send my regards to all the folks I met at EFNW, even however briefly. This was kind of a weird convention for me, a combination of a year and a half worth's of unabashed in-person partying which I hardly ever get the inspiration to do, and the price that exacts for those of us who aren't exactly young anymore, with some panels thrown in there, though not nearly as I wanted to go to. This comes down to 1) pacing, and 2) politely declining going on a brewery crawl in Ballard the first night before the con.

Third, I'm still writing. In addition to getting back on the Quills N' Sofas speedwriting wagon (Hi Jaxie! Hi Seer! Hi Vis! Hi Flash! Hi Applezombi! Hi Shas!), I've been working on my own novel for... well, a good long time. Pretty sure it started as a mental defense mechanism during law school, and just built out from there. I've been working on the present version of it off and on for the last four years, slowly but surely. It's science fiction, halfway between The Expanse and Mass Effect, plus an homage to A Canticle for Leibowitz and a little bit of Downbelow Station thrown in for good measure. Read it... well, when it's done. Which may be next NaNoWriMo, or may be never.

Fourth, future conventions? Very much up in the air. I am now gainfully employed, but between now and May is the busy season at my new job, a cycle which, thankfully, will only happen every other year. But until then, bleh. Maybe HarmonyCon, which is a short drive for me. But other than that, maybe not until next EFNW.

Your friend gazing out the window on the first post-summer day,

M-T

P.S. Direct Flights to Equestria and many other non-ungulate dimensions take off daily out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Because Austin isn't just weird, we have weird sister worlds too.
