An Ode to Coffeebean (A.K.A. My Hero) · 2:00am Nov 1st, 2011
Hi guys. So, do you know this guy?
http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Coffeebean
I do. He's an awesome guy and a talented writer. Whenever I have a problem with a story or need to brainstorm something, I go to this guy and say "Hey, got a minute?" and he's like "Sure!"
Why?
Because he's awesome, that's why. This guy is my inspiration. You know how it says I stopped writing for a while in my bio? Yeah, I lied. I stopped writing for a year. I was depressed. I felt like my work was drying up, that I had no talent, and that it was going nowhere fast. Then, I started reading stuff out of "The Collection", a whole collab of sensual pony stories and a lot of fics struck me as good, but there was only a couple that I would label as great. Backstage Pass and Homecoming being two of them. These fics blew me away by their sheer quality and I was smitten by the pen and had to start writing again. And these fics were written by, you guessed it, Coffeebean. This guy is a great writer and it pains me to see his work get so little attention. His fics are what brought me out of a one year slump.
ONE.
YEAR.
SLUMP.
That's a long ass time.
Because of him, I try my damned hardest to measure up to his skills. I put in 110% not just for the joy of hearing how people enjoyed my work, but to see how he reacts and responds.
So why am I telling you all of this? Because he feels like he's going nowhere fast. He feels like his work is getting passed over and it's making him feel like he should just pack it all in and give up.
This, coming from the man who wrote the pony fic equivalent of the Mona Lisa (IMO), multiple times.
So you know what? Show him some love. You've made me feel so loved here and it's drove me to great heights. So show him the same love in return and check him out.
And Coffeebean? If you're reading this? You brought me out of my slump and helping me find my muse again. Because of you, I have a novel planned and a whole wall covered with sticky notes involving it. You are my hero. Don't ever forget that.
