No Story this Wednesday... But On Christmas Eve...

Alright, guess the streak had to break for one week.

Yes, I got laid up with shoulder issues, so there'll be no story on Wednesday this week. However, there will be one this one, one I've been working on for a while, that will be a sequel to another long-form fic I did, and commissioned by the same person as that last fic to boot.

    Back and I'm Better

    Okay, so.

Short version of what I've been up to - see the above title and know it comes off a hand that one month ago, was still recovering from being broken.

Long version of where' I've been off to for the last year and change... well, a lot of developments happened in my life. Rocky ones, profound ones, but all worthy of Mt. Everhoof all the same.

    Chrome Hearts Revision

Well, I've been off the site for a week or so, barring the submissions, and it's for a good reason. See, my recent story, Chrome Hearts was an rather ambitious endeavor that I had. However, it went off the rails a little (well, a bit more than a little), and I found myself having to revise it.

When I was last on this forum, I was stuck between several commissions I had no idea if I could even fulfill, I was mired in the middle of a full-time job over at a store that was a twenty-minute drive from my home and left me exhausted when I came back, and despite all my writings, I never felt I'd reached the peak of writing that had crested long ago with stuff like Freeze-Frame Bonus and Reeltime Roadtrip.

In other words: I'd lost my focus.

So, I took some time off, resolved to get my life in order, maybe thought I could get a head start on learning more to inoculate myself against that little virus that was running wild over the country. (You'll be happy to know I did, natch.) But mostly, I was taking some distance, moving to more appropriate - and less time-eating - jobs, all that - because I wanted to make sure, no matter what, that I was the best Vis-a-Viscera I could be.

And I was still contributing from time to time on the Quills and Sofas forum. One was because it was fast, something I did have time for between the absolute mountainous amounts of work I had to do at home. And second, because... well, I didn't really know at first. I was in a bad place at the moment, thought that my whole drive for being a part of this wonderful community had spluttered its last drop of gas. But I suppose.... I mainly wanted to see if I could still replicate the big bad work ethic that got me so much acclaim - and commissions - that I had before. I wanted to know if there were still big stories left ot tell.

And after that year passed, something amazing happened to me. That spark, that fire I thought my overwhelming workload had snuffed out... it came back. I started taking more ambitious risks, finishing up more of the commissions from my saintly patient Discord followers, even re-found my love for... well, that rating of fics. Piece by piece, bit by bit, I realized that even if I wasn't banging up two fics a week (this one notwithstanding :3) I could still make a mark on this landscape, and if you'll all forgive me for my far too long spell of silence, I'll show out but one of many.

Tl;dr is this: even if it's to an audience of one, even if I never reach the sinbox again, Vis-A-Viscera is back to stay. The switchboards have not turned off on this filly armed and operational battle-station, and I've several goals I even want to tackle before 22 becomes 23 on this ol' calendar.

That Car Wash trilogy and Chrome Hearts sequel? Gonna happen. That Leech birthday fic? Gonna happen. That story that first put me on this map? ... eh, well see, but if I do it'll be for far shorter chapters. The commissions I still have piled up? You let me know if I haven't completed them, and I promise we'll work something out. I apologize to all of you whom my sudden hiatus left hanging, and I vow with every fiber of my being that it will never happen again.

Also? All my non-blog-prompted posting will be done on Wednesdays from now on. I have not lost my spirit to compete either, I can provide a worthy challenger to the High King of Clop SomeLeech, and by Celestia's crown, I will. I believe in nothing so much as my output and work ethic, and despite this hiccup, I resolve to rejuvenate that consistent presence on this forum, even if it's less constant week-to-week.

So again - Viscera's back - and you'll see the two-day fruits of her labor by 3:00 PM today. Let the games begin for all those who think I've done nothing but improve in my time off.

(Especially with my new job making logos for other companies - shoot, I might even have a new insignia by the end of the year of Vis's cutie mark.)
