So I just found out... · 3:38am May 20th, 2022
That Vangelis passed away just a few days ago. Geez.
A bit late, but a fond farewell to one of the most epic composers to have graced the big screen.

Man, Blade Runner is easily a top-5 all-time movie soundtrack for me. Absolutely flawless, timeless masterpiece. I genuinely can't decide whether it or the visuals are the better part of that experience.
Vangelis was a legend. RIP.
Vangelis?
I feel like I'm missing out on something
5658676 I mean, if you don't know, yeah, you are. He was one of the most amazing composers out there, and as I posted, he passed away recently.
Raise a glass to a genuine legend.
Conquest of paradise, never fails me when i need to think of something epic or gamechanging. His talent will be missed

Never until this moment have I ever knew who made this brilliant piece. You will be missed.
Yep. I posted about him on my FB page. He, along with a few others, pulled me into the world of ambient and orchestral synth. Aside from the mentions of Chariots of Fire, Bladerunner, et al., I remember the first album of his that I purchased, "Direct" from 1988. Here's my favorite song, the one that won me over to him and his vision:

I later found out that he had taught himself to play the piano, and to read music. Truly, he was a gifted and talented man. He will be missed.
Blade Runner... such a great soundtrack.
I wonder if saying things like "I like the music of Vangelis", or "I like the theme to Chariots of Fire", isn't narrowing our focus too much. His music isn't meant to stand on its own. It's always part of a larger composition and a larger story.
