Into the Light: Chapter 6 is Coming! + Updates · 2:10am Mar 20th, 2022
HELLO. IT'S ME.
No, I'm not dead! No, I've not been procrastinating! Well okay maybe I have been a little bit. This is both an update on the status of Into the Light, my plans, and where I've been!
New Chapters
Chapter 6 is written! Actually, it was written back in January and sat there unedited for uh. Almost two months. :D There's a reason why I didn't finish it off until now, but we'll get to that. I'm planning to release Chapter 6 next Saturday. (March 26th)
Chapter 7 is ALMOST written! Most of it is there, I just need to close it out and edit it. I'm hoping to release it the following Saturday. (April 2nd)
Oh also, here's a preview of a new song for Into the Light!
Where have I been?
For those who don't know, I am a HUGE project junky. I am the sort who has a million ambitious projects running at a time. The start of this year has been extremely eventful for me, with many of these projects taking off and a whole lot of working being done on them. These projects include but are not limited to:
- My original book series
- Directing a 3D animated production (based on said book series)
- Acting as the lead designer and developer of an in-progress MMORPG Minecraft Server
I also recently picked up an additional job working as a contract Java Developer to earn some extra income to help fund my ambitions.
Where does Into the Light fall?
Into the Light is, admittedly, my "break" project. It's what I work on when I don't want the pressure of deadlines and perfectionism. As such, I am not pushing myself to do consistent work on it.
That being said... Into the Light is EXTREMELY special to me, just by the themes it tackles, the setting, and the joy it brings me to think about. I have no intention of abandoning it. The story is very near and dear to my heart, and I have never written anything quite like it. The entire point of Into the Light is freedom; a story where I am unbound by traditional conventions and rule-sets that I've encountered when writing for my own universes. While I enjoy having a tightly woven world, Into the Light is my outlet for saying "screw it" and going all-in on the fantastical. It is as much an adventure for me (and hopefully the readers) as it is for Celestia and Luna.
Future chapters will, of course, come as they are written... but the writing of these chapters will be done intermittently and as I find the time to do them. I never want to force myself to write chapters for Into the Light; that would defeat why I started it to begin with.
In Conclusion
Thank you all for bearing with me. I'm sure it's disappointing to hear that my return is not a sign of "renewed consistency", but I hope you all can understand my mindset with this story. It means so much to me, and I don't want it to be sullied by me feeling like it is my "duty" to finish it rather than my pleasure to finish it.
Good luck in juggling all the creative things at once! Meanwhile, I'm over here unable to remember more than one thing at a time. I do not do well with multiple long projects, I've found out. I got one gear that I can set and go on. Take it easy and enjoy the writing process on your breaks. No need to stress horse words.
