Some background music. You're going to need it: we're going to be here a while.

    Status Update, April 2024 Edition

Part of my slowness in writing M.L.G.'s latest chapter is for the usual reasons: tiredness, minor depression, having other things on the mind, that sort of thing. However, in what can only be described as "whimsy", I've recently decided to complete a list of all of the intentional shout-outs and references in the story as of the most recent chapter.

    Something To Think About

I have a message to share with prospective authors. If you go into writing a story---be it as a living, or just for fun---don't automatically assume that what you're doing is wholly original.

    Tired, Running On Empty

That pretty much summarizes my mental state of the past few days. Constantly tired (half due to not getting enough sleep and half due to my walking regimen), and I can't really think of things I want to write for the story. You know you're having trouble finding things to talk about when your brain fishes for tuna, but ends up with guppies instead.

    So INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED Right Now

I copied the latest chapter of M.L.G. to my flash drive as usual. I took it home with the intent to post it today. I double-click the file.

Status Update - 3-9-2022 · 12:49am Mar 10th, 2022

So, yeah: I got hit with a sudden onslaught of work within the past few days. Same client as the one from October-November of last year. They wanted some more stuff done, and the company I work for was tasked with handling it. I had no time to work on M.L.G. today, and that's likely to continue on into next week. As such, the new Chapter Update Deadline is now March 23.

Normally this wouldn't be a big deal to me, but the chapter I'm working on now has something I've been anticipating doing for months: the exhibition match between Leviathan and Gray Ghost. Combat scenes have never been something I'm good at, so I'll need as much time as I can to make sure the action flows and everything comes off feeling natural. And besides, I need the practice: there's going to be more of these before the story ends... how many exactly, I don't know.

For those late to the game who are wondering why I don't just work on the story at home, I actually have less distractions at work than I do at home, surprisingly. Granted, it is contingent on being caught up on all my work, but the fact remains. I typically don't interact with clients directly unless my boss isn't around, and when I'm not doing research or documentation, my only job is to answer the phone: this affords me plenty of time to write, most days. At home, I have to constantly help my parents out with stuff, and handle my own chores on top of that. There's also my gaming channel and my parents' cats, all of which require time and attention. In addition, I view being at home as my chance to unwind and take a break from writing fanfiction. It helps me enjoy the weekend a little more.

So, yeah. That's pretty much everything I can think of to say at present. Ciao mein, everyone!
