Hey so, recently noticed the sighting of a rotary phone in Equestria, in the episode Rarity Takes Manehatten. How I interpret that is, rotary phones do indeed exist in Equestria, however, as of the shows timespan they haven't been introduced for general public usage, and so only big and important companies, businesses, and corporations are permitted to have them as of yet.
So, with that in mind: A New Life takes place approximately 24 years after the show ends, and at this point I'm thinking. . .rotary phones have probably started being distributed across Equestria by now. So, basically everyone has rotary phones in Canterlot, Manehatten etc, all of the big cities really.
Ponyville probably didn't get them until maybe a year before Meteor was sent there since it's a smaller village, so if you're reading the story and they mentione a phone or if they use the phone every once in awhile, that's why!
Oh also their run moreso by magic than by science which, gradually as phones progressed, started to slowly change up until the time Equestria lost their magic, by then it was kind of crucial to completely rely on science and natural resources to make modern technology and stuff. So that's my explanation and um, feel free to use it if you want. I'm just going to get back to writing chapter three. . .bye.
Or maybe rotary phones are just too expensive for the common pony.
