I made a new story and just published it yesterday.
I'm looking back on older works. And I am trying to make altered versions with better plotlines. Things that are more developed or have different pacings.
And the most recent attempt is called Friendships are Magic: Season 1. When I initially launched it, the ratings were doing fine and were pretty much balanced. People were commenting and telling me if they found it interesting. Only a few, but the feedback is appreciated. But, then, the number of dislikes pumped up and I noticed the comments on the story were all marked with negative reviews. Exactly five of them for each comment.
So, my question is whether this is a common occurrence or not? I'm asking because there was no feedback, or comments explaining why the sudden boom in dislikes. And I had people comment on why they didn't like a chapter before. And I went ahead and took down the chapter to alter it completely if not fix the plot during the following chapter.
So, I just want to know if this happens in some stories from time to time. I'm not very good with social media in general, so I just wanted to know if this happens sometimes.
And if I offended someone with what I wrote, I'm sorry.
I've noticed when negative views or dislikes come in, it's usually not followed by a comment explaining why.
It might be laziness. It could because of the subject material in general. There are likely a dozen reasons why someone just doesn't vibe with a story for whatever reason. But that should not bother you.
Yes the comments and likes helps us understand our audience better. It truly does help. But you cannot allow them to change your story overly much. This is a journey that you have decided to share with others, it's your story. Your not gonna please everyone. So expect the occasional negative review, or a dislike here and there, but write the story you feel in your heart needs to be told.
Or you will never feel satisfied.
I think i might have an idea. This is based on my observation and i might be wrong but i am assuming is due to ur large amount of unfinished works u have in ur library. Don't get me wrong those stories that u wrote are incredible and i enjoyed it alot, hoping that u update some of them but other might have a mindset that u should focus ur efforts on certain stories and finishing them, before posting new ones.
Or its best that certain stories should be oneshot since it seems that u post only one story before moving on.
Or there might be something wrong with the story itself but i am unsure in regards to it since it actually looks ver well done so keep that up.
Edit: it might also just people be trolling ur stuff, as in making multiple accounts to dislike since it seems the dislike are a consitent amount in the comment which is just weird.

Thank you both for the feedback. I'll try to focus on what I want to write rather than worry about the ratings. Thank you.
