The issue with a well-defined timeline... · 11:28pm Feb 7th, 2022
Well... to make one thing clear given this post's title, I will not say that I think there are no issues with the show's timeline. I think that they exist, and I certainly feel the show's staff didn't do the best of jobs at keeping track of the show's timeline at times.
That said, I also don't think harassing the show's staff about continuity issues is the right way to go about this to any degree, and I will more than readily admit that it is possible to nitpick on these things past what we could call a reasonable level. Also, errare humanum est... or, like the Wonderbolts might say, errare equinum est.
Either way, point is... trying to plot out my fic universe's timeline made me realize how difficult that can be, especially when you rely on events with a set time period between them and want to ascribe actual calendar days to it. If it was actually an animated series and I was the producer, I might need at least one person in charge of it only, if not more.
At least I think the biggest part of it is done. Hopefully I didn't make any mistake during it, because if I did it will have a domino effect.
Figuring out the show's timeline is a mess. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about it, and I wish you the best of luck on your interpretation.

Well... I will have to admit that when it comes to this, I "cheat" a bit. As in, I apply some sort of degree of personal Fanon Discontinuity to a lot of later seasons and Equestria Girls stuff. Not always because of time, but when it comes to the earlier seasons, time intervals are the most common issue, especially when it comes to the 'total duration' of the time period that Seasons 1-3 and the first Equestria Girls movie (I feel all those things happening in only a year doesn't make sense, and if non-series material is made canon, it's only worse).
I know there are reasons to not call it a good policy, but in the end, that way things make more sense in my head, and hopefully also will for readers.
