Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for tonight! This evening, I will be reviewing Disney’s The Wild from 2006. This was one of those animated Disney films I haven’t seen in a long time and wanted to give a re-watch to see if it’s as good as I remember when I was a kid. So about a month ago or so, I rewatched this movie with a high expectation of being washed by nostalgia and fun entertainment. But alas...*sigh*...I didn’t get that feeling. Instead, I was bombarded with cringe-fest comedy and stupidity while watching it. I don’t remember this movie being this atrociously bland before. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you an animated family film that is unoriginal, unfunny, and downright embarrassing.

This movie is about a popular lion who is trying to lighten up his cub after the latter fails to give a strong roar. Sick of being in his father’s shadow and being weak, Ryan finds himself alone in a truck where the humans take him away from the zoo and send him to the wild. Samson and his gang must rescue him before it’s too late.

Now, when I said that this movie is unoriginal, I actually mean it. This is basically an amalgamation of Disney’s The Lion King, Pixar’s Finding Nemo, and DreamWorks’ Madagascar. Mix them together in a blender and BOOM!! You have this chaotic mess of a film. Father and son get into an argument in front of everyone which results in the latter leaving the former (Nemo), the son gets taken away from his father (again Nemo), the main character lion undergoes character development in order to be a true lion (Simba), and the movie centers a group of random animals from a zoo and animals from the wild (Madagascar). You see how similar they all are?

Don’t get me wrong; the character development was kinda/sort of well-written that made me somewhat sympathize with the characters, but the plot itself was not that well-written unfortunately. It is full of comedic moments that were just unfunny and completely forced. Not to mention how distracting it was at times.

The voice acting was pretty decent though. I did enjoy hearing Greg Cipes voicing Ryan in this movie. That guy will always be Beast Boy from Teen Titans to me. Same can be said for Patrick Warburton who voiced Blag. However, I couldn’t honestly enjoy William Shatner’s performance as Kazar. His voice acting was okay, but his character was honestly too stupid to ever take seriously. He has by far the most illogical villain motivation I’ve ever seen in my life. He basically wanted to upset Mother Nature’s order to become the predator whereas the actual predators such as lions become prey. How did he come to that conclusion? Because a dumb kola bear doll scared a couple of pussy lion cubs away and thought that was a sign from the gods.

That is both insanely unrealistic and downright hilariously, mindfuckingly stupid. I’m sorry, Kazar, but wildebeest will always be prey to lions. It’s never the other way around. That’s how nature intended it to be. The best way you could get your revenge is by eating grass. Why? Because as Mufasa said, “Our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass.” See? Because that’s how that works! 🙄

The majority of the characters were acting like they’re completely on crack or on drugs. Their dialogue sounded so bizarre, out-of-place, and somewhat cringeworthy. I kept thinking to myself, “Is there not a single character who is both sane and normal?” I barely laughed during any of their moments on screen.

The animation looks so weird as well. This type of 3D animation doesn’t look as good as other 3D animated movies I’ve seen before. The soundtrack is forgettable and barely enjoyable also.

In conclusion, this movie only accomplished in reminding me how exceptionally good the other movies are which this film mercilessly rips off from. Thus, I give it a 3/10.

Peace out.

P.S. A squirrel wants to bang a giraffe. I don’t see anything wrong with that at all! :D

Well, another movie to add to my list of movies I'm glad I've never heard of

Yeah, it wasn't that good. The villains weren't even logical

Never heard of this movie honestly.
I don't think they ever even show it on TV anywhere.

This is honestly one of those animated features that are so illogical and nonsencial that they are actually immensely hilarious.

When I was a kid, I watched “The Wild” numerous times. I have planned on reviewing it, but I wanted to wait until I reviewed “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory” since this movie’s story was similar to the former.
