Help Plotting assassin attacks! · 5:34pm Jan 11th, 2022
Okay, just a little brainstorming. Or fishing for ideas whatever you want to call it.
How would you sneakily try to assassinate an 11-year-old Alicorn? Think Middle Ages for tech level so no sniper rifles or plastic explosives. Gunpowder might be possible.
Update: most suggested assassination - sneak knife attack. The second most suggested is poison.
Get them while they're sleeping using a dagger, poison their food with Hemlock or some other poisonous food, wait until they're outside and set a snare trap to capture them
crossbow with a feces tipped arrow? Tomato based dish on a lead plate? gunpowder keg a bit too close to the playground? lotta ways to try and kill them horse people
While sleeping, or alone and distracted, slit his throat to quiet him up as he goes. Suffication would take too long, and I assume they can heal him enough with magic, hence why it has to be fast.

i dont know if poisons work on alicorns if they do poison is obviously the way to go if they dont as i suspect i would try to get him to go on a suicidal quest somthing like "prophacy has fortold that only you can slay the wyvern enslaveing these lands" and if the kid maniged to defeat the crasy large dragon id give up because no way am i able to kill him
Maybe I trigger for the gunpowder, like they sit on pressure plate and when they get up boom
Pit trap with spikes tipped in Deadly Nightshade and a Runed Magic Null stone to prevent flight or teleportation.
You can put it in an area that the Alicorn visits often that isolated and it can be covered over without having to move the body.

A quest... Hmm, that got me thinking.
As far as sneakily goes your probably looking for something that appears accidental or slow poisons, a stabbing isn't exactly subtle if your trying to hide its an assassination. Since were talking about an alicorn here, a few possibilities come to mind. A saddle bag with a poisoned needle designed to spring at high altitude or from turbulence with a paralytic toxin could make for a fairly convincing looking accident during flight. Enchanted jewelry could have a similar magical effect, and both together could make for a false sense of security if one was discovered. Who looks for a mechanical trick after finding the magic one.
Another possibility could be cursed jewelry or magical poison that would either slowly drain magic over time or even better cause spells to go wild with extra power. The latter might be extra easy to miss in the case of a young alicorn just learning magic who might be expected to have occasional power surges. A similar idea could be a trap placed somewhere as well, like a draining spell on their bed or something, and every day they wake up weaker.
Since were talking about a kid, a dare or challenge to do something particularly stupid and dangerous often works, tho I suspect this particular target may be more mature that it might appear. Lots of possibilities there tho between learning to fly and learning magic, and then whatever more natural or unnatural dangers might be around to entice a would be adventurer being fed stories. maybe getting the local fire festival fans a little riled up for one reason or another... plausible deniability and all that.

Nice ideas gave me plenty to think about.
Crossbow in tiny tube preaimed. Have remote trigger. Aka string to trigger

I'm not sure how I should feel being praised for my ideas for murdering children, but I'll take it. I like sicklyhare's tomato and lead plate idea, that ones right out of history. The problem with the slow poisons that build up over time is most of them have very little survival chances or cures, assuming you want the character to survive and recover.

Yeah none of the “attacks” will work. I’m already thought of a interesting one for the assassin in the night.
