Talk About It: Tell Your Tale

    Hey Folks!

So, Tell Your Tale (TYT?) has been going on for a while, and I’ve been watching the episodes as they came out. I don’t make it a point to watch it, I just happen upon the episodes as they release. I personally consider it attached yet very unrelated to FiM as the show itself has been making quite clear, so I don’t really have complaints in that aspect.

    I did a thing…

    Hey Folks!

    It’s been a while, huh?

Moving on, I did a thing. I don’t know what to say about it other than the fact that it’s a thing and I am the all culprit behind this heinous crime.

    …I think I can explain better if I first show y’all what I did…

    Updates... and more!

    Hey Folks!

So, I decided to do a little update post.. thing today 'cause, well, I haven't been doing all that much on here as of late.
    I guess a life/incoming-stories update?

Short and simple way to put it would be: I've got a case of the infamous 'Writer's Block'.

Hurra! What an unexpected turn of events, huh?
    Not really.

2 Month Anniversary! · 5:55am Dec 24th, 2021

Heya Folks!

As per the agenda I created for myself, last month, I'm here to give my future-self, and maybe future-ya'll, a sort of time capsule , of this month.

I didn't get all that much done this month; it ended up being quite hectic of a time actually. From school, studies and exams to stories, writing and editing, I was quite stressed out this month. I managed to finish up three stories and that's not even near how much I wanted to do. I wanted at least 10 in total out, not for this month but just in general. I'm not particularly pleased with the little amount of stories I got out in a month's time. What I am pleased with is the quality they came out in, I'll say so much.

Now for the the Time-capsule bit.

Stories finished this month:
The Truth Behind The Storm - 395 views. 15 upvotes. 4 downvotes
My Last Letter To You - 215 views. 12 Upvotes. 1 downvote.

And yea, that's it. I also finished my Jinglemas story, but haven't yet published it, so I don't count it here.

Stories at the moment:
5) The Butterfly's Stitch - 180 views (Exactly). Ratings are unknown.
4) Stolen Childhood - 673 views. 9 likes. 1 Dislike. 4 Chapters (nearly five)
3) The Spread Of Sweetness - 195 views. 17 Likes. 2 Dislikes. Featured from 12/11/21 to 13/11/21 (I think)
2) A Hard Day - 279 views. 20 Like. 3 Dislikes.
1) Worthy To Be A Royal - 510 views. 23 Likes. 3 Dislikes. Featured from 29/10/21 to 31/10/21. Most Popular story at the moment.

Personal Status at the moment:
28 Following.
21 Blogs.
7 Stories. (nearly 9)
6 members in my group.
36 groups I'm apart of.
13 Bookshelves.

Now for something more relaxed and less annoying for me to type down: Art! I absolutely adore looking at Christmas Fanart, so here we are with some more!

Awwww!! Look at 'em! Just precious are they not? This beauty was done by ho-ohgia

Wandered to this blog by chance, but since I'm here... Happy Hearth's Warming! :pinkiehappy:

Also, I don't think you should worry too much about the amount of stories per month, and you definitely shouldn't stress yourself out about it. Always value quality over quantity. Not to speak about the fact that your readers will be easily able to catch up if you produce just a few stories per month, and the stories won't be stealing each other's spotlight. :raritywink:

You're not wrong buddy! The spotlight thing I don't worry my self over, but maybe I should?:duck:
Jokes aides, thank you for that! Do appreciate it.
I like getting as much done as I can in any amount of time, be it a month or not. Since last month I, somehow, popped out 5 stories, I had this unreachable expectation in my head, to reach at least that much. But I suppose the three stories I've got out, are far better quality-wise, huh? I did work on all of them around the same time, but eh!
Again thanks! And Happy Hearth Warming, to you too buddy!

You shouldn't write for fame, but as far as getting feedback goes, you should avoid swamping your readers with stories. People will have more time to give you feedback on the individual fics, plus if there's some recurring error in all of them, it's better if readers point it out in just one story. You can then fix up the other ones before they get posted.

But I suppose the three stories I've got out, are far better quality-wise, huh?

I haven't read them--might give them a read some day though!--so I can go only by the ratings. It's hard to judge stories with a rather small amount of votes and views (Albeit it's good numbers for mostly oneshots of someone who's new to the site.), since the fact some stories are around for a while longer or feature different characters can affect the statistics quite a bit. So, hard to say.

I haven't read them

Ah, bud, that question was rhetorical! Don't need to worry about it!

Oh and I’m aware. Fame is never one thing I strive for, though a little moment in the spotlight never hurts:raritystarry:. I'd break if you were to plop a thousand people on my stories, no way I'm living with that sort of pressure! Nope. Absolutely not.
And as for the feedback thing; I do get some feedback behind the scenes, so I'm not sure if there is a full on reoccurring issue, if there is, I personally haven't noticed it. Though I'm not very attentive.. so uh yea! I also don't particular have a want for feedback. I absolutely adore it when people give feedback, makes my day even, but it's not something I search for while writing. I believe in self correcting... thooouuugh I'm not very reliable on it so maybe I shouldn't do that...?:rainbowderp:

Anywho, thanks for the little advice, do appreciate it:scootangel:

Hehe, it's fine.

I believe in self correcting... thooouuugh I'm not very reliable on it so maybe I shouldn't do that...?:rainbowderp:

It's not bad if you edit the story yourself, but it's possible that there are issues that nobody pointed out yet and that you yourself are unaware off. Unless you have memorised a whole manual of style of something, of course. For example, did you know that if a character is directly addressed in dialogue (or even a letter and such), a comma should precede the direct address? (Yes, I quickly skimmed your most recent story. :scootangel:) Also, if you want, I can send you a little guide on direct speech. You seem to get it right most of the time, but it couldn't hurt.

Anyway, I'm just rambling and going off-topic. Yes, self-editing is great and everyone should do it, though you shouldn't rely solely on it.

I'd break if you were to plop a thousand people on my stories, no way I'm living with that sort of pressure! Nope. Absolutely not.

This makes me want to gather a thousand people and send them your way. :rainbowlaugh:

Anyway, enjoy the festive evening. I don't want to bother you.

Also, if you want, I can send you a little guide on direct speech.

I wouldn't mind a it, if your willing to, that is. Also, we all ramble on, it's apart of nature. I ramble wayyy too much for my own good, so I see where your coming from.

This makes me want to gather a thousand people and send them your way. :rainbowlaugh:

Please don't! I’d die from the presure!:fluttershysad:
I love talking and meeting new, Folks, so it was no bother whatsoever!
(It's sort of late night here, so more or less a festive night, but yea sure!)
