Why Is A Raven Like A Writing Desk?

I suppose there can be two answers to this, seeing as it was a riddle meant to have no answer.

1. Because they can both carry a flat note.

And my personal favorite

2. Because both were worked on by Edgar Allen Poe.

Thing is, Lewis Carroll/Rev. Dodson didn't write that answer. It was written by a fan. Carroll just intended the riddle to be a piece of nonsense.
