In the wake of the winter and spring disaster that was known as Anon-a-Miss, Sunset Shimmer doesn't decide to go back to Equestria, or to end her own life, much less take the lives of all that have wronged her and become worse than she has ever been.
No, instead Sunset Shimmer, born in Equestria thirty-one years ago, and given the opportunity to restart her life with as a whole different species, and extend her own life by ten years upon her arrival through the portal by having her physical age regress chooses to go out into that version of North-America. She now seeks to be as far away as physically possible from Equestria and Canterlot City.
But she doesn't make it far in that clouded night.
For outside her apartment is a beaten-up male Crystal Prep student with now disheveled black hair, a crooked neck, and amber-colored eyes. His uniforms' sleeves were rolled up, his jacket was open, his tie was missing. To add to that his uniform is torn in places, and in some spots stained with blood. His condition wasn't the best with a bleeding slash on his right arm, a black eye, and a bloodied nose.
"Gilda is a f$%king c#$t! But regardless of that, you need to read this." He says.
He hands her a manilla envelope that has some dried blood splatter on it.
She is standing there not sure if she should call the cops, or bring him in, give him first aid, and be prepared to stab him with a kitchen knife the moment he tries anything.
"Why? And who are you?" She asks, not knowing what to make of this bizarre situation.
He straightened his neck with a crack and the sound of something poping back into place, followed by him spitting blood to his left side.
"A guy that knows a friend of a friend of yours. She wasn't there when this started happening and she begged me to straighten things out." He said, trying to explain himself without giving up to many details outside of closed doors.
Her eyes opened at that once it clicked in her head.
"Twilight? Did she send you? I thought she was on a trip to Tuscany with her parents." She said.
He started to look nervous and looked around.
"Look, I know this is asking a bit much. But can you let me in? I promise to tell you everything, but you probably are not going to like what I tell you." He said as a warning to her about the contents of the envelope.
She questioned herself for a second, but she decided to lead him back into her apartment with questions in her mind.
It was then that Sunset Shimmer started to reconsider who her real friends really are.

Here the Crystal Prep Fleur-de-Lis was fond of Sci-Twi and considered her a friend, and called her once she heard rumors about what was happening in CHS, and offers Twilight to help Sunset and to bring in a boy she is close with to help clear Sunset's name.
But this leads Sunset to rethink her life and burn more than a few bridges, deciding to leave CHS for good.
Basically, It's a semi Neo-Noir with an impromptu Detective, Fleur-de-Lis, and Sci-Twi helping Sunset rebuild her life away from the CHS. With Sci-Twi being disappointed in the Humane-Five.
Sunset forms a new group of friends and with the three and they start dealing with Magick Problems as a result.
With perspectives Switching between Sunset Shimmer and a young teenage Equestria Girl style Arcanum Folklore that is just a Chemistry Nerd, Bookworm, and was trained harshly in Martial arts by a cruel master as punishment by his father for causing property damage.
This will have them venturing into a different and stranger world as they grow up and get a feel for reality, even its more bizzare parts.
