So, in my last blog post, I mentioned that I would not be rewriting any more of my story.
: Actually, you 'promised'.
Yes, I know. Suffice it to say, I was mistaken.
: You mean you lied.
No, I mean I was mistaken. I had every intention of working out the rest of the story. I sat night after night, staring at a mostly blank page, searching for the words to put down. I came up with 523 words total. That's right, after two whole weeks of trying to write, only 523 words managed to make their way 'to paper'. I had lost my focus. I had lost my inspiration. The daunting problems of my original writing plagued me. Nothing seemed to be working.
Then I spent some time in "The Writer's Group" IRC. There I met a few new friends and talked ideas with them. They took a look at my story and pointed out all the flaws that I already saw for myself. Then, they did something completely unexpected. They helped me. They bounced ideas back and forth. Concepts were being developed, plot thickened, and even the basis of the story, which I am unsure if anyone actually caught it was expanded upon. After a few days, I came to a conclusion.
Though it pained me, because I would be breaking a promise I made to you, my few, but highly valued followers, I decided to put my original story on hiatus. I am in process of the rewrite, and it is going very well. The story for the most part will stay the same, but there is much more character development. Envy will now be fully fleshed and not just a goon to do away with, and most importantly, the entire story is now told in 3rd person perspective.
At my estimates the rewrite is approximately 25% finished. I am making sure to run it by and editor before submitting it, and the entire story will be finished before I begin posting. I can only offer this piece of advice to anyone out there who is contemplating writing: Make a first draft and have someone who is impartial read it before you submit. You will only end up disappointing your readers and, more than likely, yourself.
: Maybe you should apologize to your readers? Hmmm?
Yes, you are right. I am sorry for being unable to keep my word. In the future, I will try my hardest to not repeat that mistake.
: You should also thank your...
Yes, yes. I know. *sheesh*
I would like to take this time to thank both NotSoSubtle and FrontSevens so far for their assistance.
They both have stories in the works, and I highly recommend you check them out.
You're welcome, it was a pleasure. :) I'm really glad that you stuck with the story, because it really did have interesting elements. Looking forward to when you post the rewrite!
Also, thank you very much for the exhibition. I promise I'll make it up to you in the future
It's been a while since I checked you out. What was your story again?
: Don't worry about it, dear. After all, a true fashonista can always improve. I imagine the the same holds true for writers. Work hard and don't lose sight of your vision and you won't go far wrong.
