My Thoughts on G5 · 12:35am Oct 1st, 2021

So, the movie was released a little while ago. If you guys remember, I post an unpopular opinion about generation five being in the same timeline. I still thought about that while I watched the movie and it seems like the two shows are connected whether I like it or not. I'm not saying the movie was bad because of this, far from it.
I loved the look of the scenery and the songs were catchy too. Sunny's character is also something I enjoyed. I was really rooting for her to succeed. Hitch was also a good character and it feels good to have a male main character that gets a good amount of screen time. Izzy's character was okay too and so was Zipp. Pipp, however, felt rough around the edges. I don't really remember doing too much. Zipp did feel guilty about lying to all of the pegasi that she and the royals could still fly, Pipp felt like she needed more work.
Maybe it was the fact she was introduced in the later half of the movie that gave her less time to be developed. Though, I want to talk about the issues of the movie, and that's the main plot about it; all the ponies are separated and magic is gone.
Let's start with the separation. It's something that's been done before in G4. It was the entire plot of Hearth's Warming Eve and in The Ending of the End. Both times the windigos showed up and nearly coated Equestria in ice, and yet they're nowhere in the movie. But that's not the biggest issue I have, what bothers me about this is that everything in G4 is now considered pointless.
The school of friendship; pointless. The Young Six; Pointless. Everything in the last problem; Pointless. Besides, MLP had the perfect ending, with Twilight and her friends all achieving their dreams, and Equestria in state of piece of all kind of creatures. More on G4's finally in a little bit. Let's focus on the other topic, missing magic.
School Raze made this sound like a big deal. Like Equestria losing it's magic would probably be the end of the world. But in G5, everything is fine. And that's an issue because the two series are a part of the same universe. Without magic, how the weather uncontrolled, how are the sun and the moon moving by themselves when it said that Celestia and Luna's magic were vitally important to making them move. There isn't a crop issue even without Earth Pony magic, so it feels like the loss magic is a minor inconvenience.
But I want to talk about the biggest bone I want to pick here, and that's the connection of G4 and G5. If you saw my post about my unpopular opinion, I don't like this idea. Besides, it wasn't the original idea. Hasbro was originally going to redesign the mane 6 and have them in a completely new Equestria. But for some reason they chose to make new characters and have them take place far into the future.
I honestly would've loved to see a new mane 6, especially earth pony Twilight. I know most reboots get a bad rap, such as the ones on cartoon networks, but there are good reboots out there. Ducktales was a success, TMNT had two great reboots, and I've lost count on how many different interpretations Scooby-Doo has.
Since the two generations are connected now, the writers are going to be a lot more limited as they can't retcon anything that happens in G4 without angering the fans. If it was a reboot, they wouldn't have this issue. They would have a new universe to play around without dragging G4 down with them.
Now, I want to ask one simple question. Let's take everything about G4 out of the movie. Pretend that the two generations aren't connected and have G5 be a reboot. Don't change anything in the movie aside from the references to past generations. Now, I ask you, what changes? To my knowledge, nothing. You could take everything about G4 out of the entire movie and have it just be a little more vague about the three different types of ponies and you'd still have the same movie.
The choice to have this connection of the two generations honestly makes it harder for the show writers in the long run and for me, I can't just accept that G4 and G5 are connected. For me, I'm just going to pretend that they're different universes, it stops my blood from boiling. You're all free to have your own opinions about the movie, nobody's stopping you, I just didn't see this movie starting off with a bang as it was intended.
True, all true. However I think with the references to G4 they have the opportunity to quickly expand the world that they have. Since viewers already know about the Yaks and the Dragons and other creatures, they won't need to be slowly introduced to the characters like before. Heck, they could even have an entire season over meeting all the descendants of the Main and Young Six and even have some of the new core group discover they're related to someone from the past too
Yeah as I like what I said about my opinion about the movie as well the characters were good at least some I kind of wish they put more into the characters development not just sunny don't get me wrong she's cool but what about the rest of them and I guess the worst case was pipp I mean she was interesting but they didn't do much with her after that when they escaped from Zephyr Heights and I kind of wish they put more interaction with these characters and the thing is the plot move too quickly it was like to the next part right now like they can give us a break before we get to the next scene. And yeah ever since they drop the summary somewhere around either April or May I don't know when they dropped the leak but somewhere around those months when we saw the summary for the movie A lot of people were pretty upset about that like they're repeating the same problem before hearths warming eve and the end of endings like you said and basically everything that the main six the pillars the young six they accomplish was for nothing and it kind of split the fandom saying that this should be an alternate universe or a sequel and that one is never going to die anytime soon but I don't know I'm just saying that maybe without spoiling the movie there is a New Hope for it maybe if they explain why it happened and maybe it could bring back Harmony back 2 across Equestria including other creatures but Hasbro I don't know what they're up to I don't know if they have faith in this franchise or do but let's see how this will work since they are continuing with this

Yeah, I think one thing I forgot to mention was the question of what happened to all the other creatures. Griffons, changelings, yaks, and especially dragons. Those creatures can be around for a very long time.
Okay if I'm going to be honest with y'all here when I heard about this summary I was so mad about it basically Hasbro is saying that the Mane 6 the young six and the pillars all the accomplishments bringing peace and Harmony and friendship over on Equestria was for nothing I was like what the hell man
I wonder who came up with that stupid idea you might as well not have the show in the first place God it really piss me off so much and as much I sort of like the movie it really contradict everything what we saw it in Friendship is Magic

From my theory is there probably are hidden somewhere after the magic disappeared I mean that's all I can think of but still it would be interesting if they did show them in generation 5 but I don't know I tried to be a little optimistic with this series but don't want to give too much hope as well I'm kind of like in the mix

I don't know man with this decision that hasbro made I feel like I can't trust those guys I felt like they should just made a alternate universe like what they did with the other previous Generations they should have gone with that maybe it will not piss me off that badly
