Today is the day, folks. Today marks my second anniversary of being a member of FIMfiction! It has now officially been two years I’ve been on here, and I gotta say that it has been quite one heck of a ride throughout this journey so far. So what better way to celebrate this special occasion than to review a movie that was just released earlier today? This afternoon, I bring before you my first impression and thoughts on this movie: My Little Pony: A New Generation.

I just finished watching this movie as I had very low expectations before watching this film. Mind you, I did not watch the trailer for this film and neither did I look into any thread, post, or picture that showcased anything related to this because I wanted to be fully surprised while watching it.

So now that I have actually watched this whole thing all the way through... I was not disappointed at all.

This was the movie I’ve been waiting for a long time, and thankfully, Hasbro successfully exceeded my expectations. Boulder Media and DHX did a fine job in making this movie. Coming from someone who had lost all love and fondness for the franchise, this movie made me actually smile. While I still don’t like the franchise as a whole, I can actually look back to this film and would give it a rewatch anytime I want to.

Before I go further, keep in mind I will be mentioning some minor spoilers in this review, so if you haven’t watched the movie yet, exit this blog and go watch it. If you have, stick around.

This story was well-written and well-fleshed out in my opinion. This is set many years into the future where Twilight Sparkle and her friends are all myth and legend and the magic of friendship is all gone. Thus, everypony is gone back into their prejudice and hatred for the other race (earth pony, Pegasus, and unicorn). However, a young earth pony named Sunny Starscout intends to bring back harmony in Equestria and make old enemies into friends.

I actually love Sunny as a character as she is very persistent, kind, optimistic, hopeful, and charismatic in believing in the magic of friendship. Vanessa Hudgens did an amazing performance as the main character. I was honestly happy that she managed to achieve her goal despite the disappointments and the struggles she faced. She learned in the end that it isn’t any crystal that brings magic... it’s what is inside that does so in laying aside all fears, doubts, hatred, and prejudice. I’m also glad she became a new alicorn as she earned it. The new princess of friendship, ladies and gentlemen!

I especially liked the other characters in this which are Izzy, Pipp, Zipp, Hitch, Sprout, and a few others. I really liked their character designs and unique personalities that made them stand apart from the other. Phil LaMarr’s voice performance as Alphabittle and Ken Jeong as Sprout were really entertaining if I may add.

However, I still wonder how exactly did all the ponies lose their magic in the first place? What happened to Twilight and her friends and all of Ponyville? Where in the hell is Discord?? Isn’t he supposed to be immortal or something? How and why are those three crystals the only ones that controlled and took away the magic? Mostly importantly... who was responsible for taking away their magic by separating those crystals? Fanfic writers... unto your keyboards!!

The animation style looks so much like Pixar’s style, and I love it for some reason. It really made it stand out and made everything so lively to me.

Robert Cullen, Tim Sullivan, and Gillian Berrow did a great job writing the story for this movie and executing this nicely and slowly. I just really hope these guys can make a TV show following this to expand this new generation where we can get more backstory and answers to all of this.

Overall, I was really impressed with what they had done with this movie as it filled me with good laughter and enjoyable entertainment. The magic of friendship and unity is alive and strong once again. Therefore, I will rate this a 9/10!

Don’t worry, guys, we’ll get back to Disney Friday reviews next week. Peace out!

Happy Anniversary, buddy.

It sure does. Anyway, what got this movie points off?

Mostly for the plot holes that I’ve mentioned:

However, I still wonder how exactly did all the ponies lose their magic in the first place? What happened to Twilight and her friends and all of Ponyville? Where in the hell is Discord?? Isn’t he supposed to be immortal or something? How and why are those three crystals the only ones that controlled and took away the magic? Mostly importantly... who was responsible for taking away their magic by separating those crystals?

I was REALLY hoping for at least a flashback, but there was nothing to indicate what exactly happened.

I thought that was a problem too. But another question is... where is everycreature?

5586334
That’s a good question too. Not a single mention of the yaks, hippogriffs, changelings, or any one else. That really concerns me to be honest.

5586336
I hope they're ok.

I'll watch this... eventually ;)

5586336
Hopefully they weren't hunted down to extinction...

5586483
That was the first thing that came to mind. Quite scary if you ask me.

5586504
If that is what happened, that would be racism taken to an extreme, even by my standards. By the way, have you seen my blog post about what happened between Friendship is Magic and A New Generation yet? It's called What Happened to Equestria In Between G4 and G5

I don’t think I’ll review this movie right now due to there being others I want to put up first. But, I’ll review it as soon as possible.

Ha! I watched it for lunch on netflix today and I enjoyed it. But to me it´s not as good as others pictured out to be. I might do a review tomorrow. However if you and other MLP fans loved it then I´m glad

To me the best things in this movie are the characters and the music. The songs had me dancing. But I felt like I was watching another kid´s movie instead of MLP.

Happy anniversary by the way!

I’m not a MLP fan, but yeah, I’m very satisfied with this film.

Happy anniversary by the way!

Thanks!

You´re welcome

To be hones,t this movie is great. Well, not as good as G4. But I don't mind that they are trying something new

I just watched the film recently and I'm now working on my review for it. However, it won't be posted right away.

I just saw your review. But before I speak of yours, what do you think of this review?

5598087
I thought it was alright. There are things I disagree with, but your review was well-done every step of the way.

Thanks. I’m gonna comment on yours now.

This was a great introduction to G5, though I'm quite baffled that Sprout wasn't fired for being an irresponsible sheriff and arrested for property damage.
