Should Shining Dantes and Cadence Mercedes get back together?

Because even though I said this story version of "The Count of Monte Cristo" was a combo of book and movie, I liked it better when the two got back together because of her undying devotion to Edmond in the film. Sure, I could have gone with the route of having Villefort go insane from the book stuff, but there's so much stuff packed into this already, I couldn't make the effort to do it. This story is VERY complex, i'll tell you now. But because Shining Armor and Cadence are my favorite characters, with Shining at the front, I want to go the movie route, and get them back together. After all they went through, I think they deserve true happiness again, with each other.

But what do you guys think?

While I’m personally hoping they have a happily ever after, there’s a strong case to be made against it at this point too. Either is plausible.
