    Potentially The End

Due to the suddenly VERY uncertain landscape that TTRPGs have been dropped into thanks to Wizards of The Coast and Hasbro, I am now faced with a problem.

For those of you who don't really pay attention to the world of Dungeons and Dragons, something of a war has begun. It is the fans vs. D&D owner and creator, Wizards of the Coast and, by proxy, Hasbro.

    The cause for the war?

    To the Surface!

Alright, I've been gone a long while. For the most part anyways. COVID... did not do me or mine any favors. Life got hard after it came in, and now I'm on my own.

    WWII

I have received a number of comments since the posting of Chapter 5 of Tartarus Forged. Most of those comments were respectful in asking why I would reference the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki like I did, and I thank you for that tact, but some of you... were not.

    It Started With An Idea

This is something that I've had running around my head for the last month or so. It's not something overly complicated, but about half-way through writing down this synopsis, I realized this had more potential than as just a fan-fic story. Alter a few key facts, such as ponies being involved... and I may have something I could genuinely turn into a book to one day be published.

I have received a number of comments since the posting of Chapter 5 of Tartarus Forged. Most of those comments were respectful in asking why I would reference the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki like I did, and I thank you for that tact, but some of you... were not.

Initially I ignored them. There is no pleasing everyone. This I know. But to this day I am still receiving comments regarding this. The comments for the most part are harmless, but I'm done with people who act like I personally walked up to them and slapped them.

Let me make this clear right now. I'm not gonna apologize for the reference. It was not meant as a joke, nor did I make light of it. What happened in WWII was terrible... but it happened. Jumping on someone for so much as vaguely referencing it in a FICTIONAL story is just as disrespectful to the many lives lost that day as making a joke out of it would be. Especially since the context of that chapter was in PREVENTING such a thing from happening in the story.

I respect your right to have and voice an opinion, but I will not allow you to use that right to try and belittle me for attempting to write a FICTIONAL story.

As of posting this blog I will begin policing all of my comments section heavily regarding this topic. Since there are some very delicate wallflowers that can't handle so much as being reminded of something they were not actually present for, I will make sure they do not see it.

I thank everyone who was respectful in asking me about this, and encourage you to continue to provide constructive criticism. Lord knows I need it. Know that I am not angry at you. If you have questions, by all means ask. You help me by forcing me to think about these things.

But I'm done with this topic and the hate I am getting for it.

I hate to say it but some people today can’t handle what happened in the past and prefer never to think about it or sweep it under the rug. They get offended over perceived insults and things that make them uncomfortable.

I don’t see how it is anyone's business what any writer puts in their story. Don't like the content then.... DON'T READ IT.

Simple as that. People need to be reminded to mind their own damn business sometimes.

Made me curious and go re-read the said chapter again. I still don't understand what could be offensive about that reference? I mean, it was an easy-to-understand comparison to the situation that Moondancer wanted to convey. Plus it was just one sentence with no other details whatsoever, so it should not concern anyone as far as I understand.

Which was pretty much my thoughts on the matter. Like I said, for the most part it wasn't a problem, save for the few who decided that it was a personal insult to so much as breathe words even remotely similar to it. I would have let that go if they had said their piece and left, but when I was still getting people upset at me over it today, I decided enough was enough.
