Thoughts on The Royal Canterlot Wedding part 1 and 2 · 5:59am May 13th, 2021
Alright, the season 2 finale, it was definitely a mix bag in my opinion. I think at the very least the main villain Chrysalis was very interesting in the sense she was well written. Her motivation wasn't just being evil, but out of a desire to expand her empire and having her changelings feed off "love" not sure how that works but it makes sense. The singing was ok, when it was Twilight but when it was Chrysalis I just couldn't help but think of Ursula from little mermaid. It just feels like a generic "I'm the bad guy" song from Disney movie villains. I also felt that part 2 was a bit rushed and we didn't see a lot of the royal guards even trying to fight the changelings hordes. But overall it was definitely a season finale that's rather special introducing a new villain and two new side characters Cadance and Shining Armor. They both become more fleshed out later as I felt we barley even got an introduction on who these new characters are. But again I don't hate these episodes in fact I really enjoyed part 1 and the setup. But I just felt that part 2 fell flat in comparison.

I thought that the caves under Canterlot were cool and I love the lore implications of how there's so much buried history in Equestria. This stuff gets my theory brain spinning but I rather hold off writing out my crazy MLP fan theories
Ok, Celestia going full on badass and trying to take down Queen Chrysalis was my favorite moment in both episodes.
Also, just saying...I think that it was super obvious something about to identify the fake Cadance without even knowing her as a pony. She was using a dark green aura for her magic when the real Cadance's is a blueish hue....just saying...
wouldn't quite agree we have seen plenty of instance of ponies magic aura change colors in the show for now clear reasons
the show should have expanded a bit more on the crystal caves beneath canterlot, because from what the next season opened up with an entire Crystal Empire; it would have been a nice bit of foreshadowing of something larger or grand to the story itself beyond just the Royal Sisters and their actions taken 1000 years ago that the show seems so dead-set on placing all of its focus upon.
Like, what if there were other deities that some groups of Ponies revered or worshipped? What if they had connections with other aspects of the world that was beyond what Celestia and Luna could control? What differentiates these Gods from the Royal Sisters, are the two of them Deities or Apostles to these Gods?
