The Original Gaston

When I was a lad I ate 4 dozen eggs every morning to help me get barge. And now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs so I'm roughly the size of a large!

    Weird glitch with Frostpony

I updated the story today with a 13th chapter today, but from the readers I keep in contact with it seems that it's already marked as "Read" for them. Additionally, the story wasn't added to the updated list until I unpublished and republished.

It doesn't matter that much, but just wanted to say that the story has indeed updated if any of you wanted to read the latest chapter.

    Accidental Update

Accidentally pressed "Publish" on an unfinished chapter and immediately unpublished it. Still resulted in it going into "Recently Updated" feeds without any actual updates lmao.

    I'm a very harebrained individual.

I haven't done shit for an entire year.

Just checked. I last updated Subnautica: Sparkle in the Deep on July 7th last year. I guess I owe some explanation as to what I've been doing to the people who care about that story.

    It's canonical.

So... Below Zero has a statue of the Precursors in it now.

Guess what? They have four legs. Boom. Canon. Theory proven. Thank you for listening to my presentation. Take some cookies on the way out.

I'm a very harebrained individual. · 10:38am Apr 26th, 2021

I haven't done shit for an entire year.

Just checked. I last updated Subnautica: Sparkle in the Deep on July 7th last year. I guess I owe some explanation as to what I've been doing to the people who care about that story.

I had decided to try and begin writing something else around the time I finished and uploaded the last chapter of Sparkle in the Deep. I didn't exactly have abandoning it completely in mind back then, I just wanted to try my hand at something else before I kept grinding out chapters for my kinda "Main" project.

Because, you see, I'm a very harebrained individual. I come up with twelve concepts for stories, I rarely decide on choosing a single one, and then end up only writing about 1,000 words of each before coming up with more concepts and moving on.

Thing is, I haven't settled on anything for an entire year. First idea I had was a Vampire Vinyl Scratch story, which I have about 5k words on sitting in a back room. Second idea I had was a Daring Do adventure novel, which I have exactly 126 words on in a back room (there were more, but I deleted most of it before abandoning it). Third idea I had was this sci fi plot about ponies in space, which I have about 3k words on. Fourth idea I had was a Fallout: Equestria story, which I have about 4k words on. Fifth idea was about an SCP story, which I have 7.7k words on. Sixth idea was- well... ermm...

I think you get the point.

Finally, I'm here in the current day. I'm still writing, just... I feel like I'm never writing anything "good" anymore. I built a whole universe in the cyberpunk genre (NO NO NO FOR THE LAST TIME IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME STAHP). Its pretty neat. I made a new OC for it. I got a semblance of a plot for it, but I also got 0 words... 'cause I realize that I've been writing in circles for the past year.

So well... I'm not sure if I'm gonna continue Sparkle in the Deep or not. I love the story dearly, but I'm not sure if I want to continue it. My heart says I want to write my newest idea, but I'm afraid of just... going in another circle again.

So to anyone that cares, thanks for reading through my rant, and remember to have ponies in moderation.

Hey, its completely fair. I'm the same way. Plenty of ideas but absolutely no drive to finish them

I don't really write fanfiction, but the articles and small stories I do write for the local zine I find it's best to start my stories with a goal before worrying about filling in the world with world building. I'd never be able finish any of my writings if I didn't start with the destination in mind and work my way towards it. It's only after I create the framework of a story in rough drafts do I go back in and maybe add lore and world building where it'd actually add to the story.

Probably doesn't work for everyone but for me every time I start a story at the start of the story with no destination in mind I feel like I'm just firing words off into the abyss.
