*crawls out of the void* *drops pony art* *scampers back into the void*

Same world that my previous Celestia's from! Ignore the random writing lol, that's just the scribbles of a madman who obsesses over their fictional worlds too much

Yikes hopefully your friend isnt as crazy?

your friend old enough to make his own decision on this? cause... i'll be honest, with how many have died from it- i'd rather he take it.

I don't think she's as crazy. She doesn't agree with a lot of the things her mom says, and we've never really talked about it, but I'm preeeetty sure she doesn't hold the same viewpoint.
5502182
Well, it's not just the Covid vaccine her mom is against, it's ALL vaccines. She thinks they're full of metal and cause autism. :facehoof:

5502185
Ask her if she's ever heard of smallpox or polio. Then ask her why nobody dies from them anymore. If necessary, reference native Americans and FDR.

This is the worst time to be raised by such a parent. If your friend is old enough, she can get vaccinated by her primary care doctor without her mom having to know. She just has to be 14+ though that can vary by state laws too. Always double check.

5502207
She's over 14, so she probably could get the vaccine. I think she already got the virus though, so she should be set.

5502217
If she doesn’t have any chance to get the covid vaccine it isn’t unreasonable to believe that she is missing a few others.

5502221
I'm pretty sure she is... I don't think she's gotten any flu vaccines. I think she's been vaccinated for chickenpox and tetanus, at least.

5502248
Flu shots aren’t much of a problem but there’s vaccines for things like rubella, polio, mumps, and more that she should have had by 14.

5502305
I'm not sure about those - I think she might have them, or at least the polio and mumps ones. Not sure about rubella though

5502205
The thing is Anti_vaxxers believe those diseases were never a problem to begin with. Or worse, some believe that those diseases never existed in the first place.
I watch a lot of stuff talking about anti-vaxxers. They're immune to logic and reason. One woman was anti-vaxx despite her brother dying because of a preventable disease.
It's ... actually rather terrifying. These people have it in their heads that the only information that's correct is information that goes counter to anything factual. The worst part is that they're most often not the ones to suffer the consequences. It's other people paying the price for them, and they use that to bury themselves further in their confirmation bias.

5502444
I refuse to believe that there is no way to convince such a person. If you can't force-feed them the information, ask them to explain it. Imagine you're Phoenix Wright conducting a cross-examination.

5502316
It’s dangerous for her health. So I’d try and make sure she has them.

5502501
That's actually the best approach to it. Some people can be convinced under critical questioning, especially if you don't do it in a hostile way. The problem is that it's so buried in conspiracy thinking that they think they're the only ones who know the truth. Much of this thinking goes hand in hand with flat earth philosophy. Some special awareness, or special understanding that only they and those like them have.

5502838
That's definitely the vibe her mom has. It feels like she's convinced it's her against the world, and she has some secret knowledge that no one else is willing to hear cause they're just stubborn.
