Question For My Followers · 10:25pm Mar 5th, 2021

Hey everyone. I've got a quick question for you regarding potential interest in an upcoming story idea I've had. This would be a new long, multi-chapter story, another crossover, but not Danganronpa. This one would be Star Trek. Without getting into too many details, it would involve Twilight Sparkle (pony Twi not Sci-Twi) trying to find her way home to Equestria, while serving in Starfleet, set in the 24th century era of Trek(TNG/DS9/VOY), and I would do my best to blend the two universes much like how I did with In Harmony's Wake for Danganronpa. It would also be an idea that I've checked and hasn't actually been done before on this website, to my surprise. So it would be new ground. It would also be an alternate universe scenario, but I don't want to get into how as that would spoil the full premise.

I'm a huge Trek nerd and writing that recent silly oneshot with Zecora and Yoda, plus watching Discovery Season 3, has bit my sci-fi bug again and I really want to write some science fiction. However, I also want to be sure there'd be some actual interest in this. This would be more a story about Twilight and her journey, making friends, etc, with the setting as a backdrop, than it would be just Trek starring Twilight. It would also be a lot less dark than DR: IHW, with far more focus on the ideals of hope, peace, and so on that Trek (at least, pre-Discovery Trek) is known for.

So I'm asking you, my lovely followers: would you be interested in this story? Do you think you'd enjoy reading a story about Twilight trying to find her way home, set in the Trek universe? Or would you pass on it?

I think it sounds interesting.

i am not sure i have not seen anything star trek i have only played the game

Never touched anything Star Trek except for the recent animated show, but it sounds interesting.

I would give it a read.

Sounds fan-smegging-tastic to read so what are you waiting for

I'd love a Star Trek series with Sunset in it as a lead, I have yet to find one...

Still, this would sound fun- though I am much less likely to read non-Sunset stories if I am being honest.

Sunset is definitely a possibility. I wouldn't be adverse to replacing Twilight with Sunset, though it would make for some changes to my overall premise. But I mean, I do love writing for Sunset. I'll have to think on that.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Sounds like there's definitely some interest, which makes me happy.

5468469
Actually, what if I did both? Sunset and Twilight? My premise is adaptable enough I could make it work.

Ooh yes, that sounds amazing! I always wanted to make a story where the Mane 6 wind up on the Enterprise and interact with everyone (with Worf getting more and more exasperated by the day), but eh.

I like the sound of this.

Admittedly, the only Star Trek series that I've ever watched was The Next Generation. So, if you base the story in that series, I'll definitely check it out.

Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes! While either girl alone is great, those two would make it all the more exciting. After all, if you're going to boldly go where nopony has gone before, it's nice to have a friend come along for the ride.

5468493
Hehehe, that would be pretty funny. Not quite what I have in mind, but funny.

I can safely say that the Enterprise-D will be involved. If I say too much more I'll spoil the premise, but I will say TNG era will feature. TNG is what I grew up on so naturally it was going to be here. And I'm glad you agree. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of Sunset and Twilight together. I can do first person perspectives with them both and bounce between them every chapter, or something like that.

5468469
Both works great. XD

No reason to outright replace Twilight with Sunset.

Could easily work both Twilight and Sunset together as leads. For instance, a portal mishap when Twilight takes Sunset home for a visit.

5468518
"Captain, I must protest. I am NOT a party pony!"

5468522
Indeed. I'm definitely going to roll with both of them. It feels like a solid idea. I mean I guess I've already done that before in IHW, but in IHW Pony Twi is more like a recurring guest star, whereas here she'd be a main character.

5468527
:rainbowlaugh: Ah, I can totally see Worf getting so fed up with Pinkie's antics. But at the same time I could also see him and Rainbow Dash getting along. Albeit in a competitive "grr we're both angry people grr" kind of way.

I confess, I'm more of a casual fan of Star Trek, but I'd still be interested in seeing what could be done with this premise.

5468535
Sunset and Twilight (either of them) have a great character dynamic for many (and different) reasons.

I'd be super hyped for a tag-team Princess Twilight and Princess Sunset, Star Trek story.

Like, super duper omega ultra ecstatic hyped.

5468628
Hehehe, we'll see, we'll see. I'm certainly not against alicornifying Sunset. She is my favorite character from the franchise.

5468635
Alicorn Sunset and Sunset Siren are my two favorite forms of Sunset, who is best everything. :p

There are so few Sunset Siren stories though... really wish I had the mental capabilities to write an idea without starting another...

Still, now I'm super duper hyped for a supposed hypothetical story, curses! XD

5468668
Sunset Siren, hmm? Are you referring to the demon form, or to Sunset as a Siren like the Dazzlings? Because the latter is a very intriguing notion.

But I know that feeling, getting hyped for hypothetical stories. But then I thought, I can wait for people to write the stories I want to read, or I can write them myself. And I know which one I picked. :rainbowlaugh:

5468673
Sunset as a Siren, I've made a few stories of it. Well, started a few. One is that Sonata turns Sunset into a siren for silly wacky fun revenge, by taking the gem fragments from their three gems and magicking them into Sunset's gem.

Another is that AaM happens before the Dazzlings show up, so Sunset ditches the school and Dazzlings get to her and talk her into succumbing into a wilder demonic Siren side. I think I posted a prologue of that in my Ideation story thing... still may be my favorite little flash scene I've ever written. shameless plug Lol

And I had about a dozen other stories ideas...

I think one of my biggest mental loops is that I hate writing, but I get so annoyed at what I want to read isn't available to read, so I try to write it... but I can't get far enough in a sitting where it is sustainable long term? If that makes sense. I have three mental loops that make it hard for me to write, then stay focused on said writing, which drives my close friends INSANE.

Cause I have amazing and unique ideas, or so they say... lmao

5468714
Sounds like stuff I need to read when I get the chance, because those are awesome ideas.

And I know what you mean. I used to be like that too, constantly stuck in a loop of hating my writing and not being able to keep up with actually continuing anything beyond a certain point. DR:IHW is the first long story I've ever completed. But I did. And doing it was like unlocking my potential. My writing flows like water.

Finding joy in writing can be really hard. But when you can, it's magical.

5468723
If there is one thing I'm good at, it is creating story ideas. Stories themselves, with actual writing? Not a chance. But ideas, I can magic up an idea like it's rocket science.

Right now, all my writing energy is going into math and poetry, which is absolutely exhausting... especially since I loathe poetry.

Can always DM if you wanna chat some more though! No need to fill up your blog post if you don't want. Lmao

5468725
That's another feel I know. Used to be all I was good for too.

And I don't blame you for feeling that way towards poetry. It's beautiful and I can enjoy a good poem, but I never write them if I can avoid it. Math on top has got to be even more frustrating.

5468729
Yeah, I gotta have a book of poems by, uh... Tuesday. It's my poetry final. I have zero confidence in poetry, so it has been double rough. I only got one poem fully done, Gas Station Sushi, the rest of them... yikes.

Meanwhile, math writing is exhausting in the opposite ways. It is so basic, but at the same time... so flipping long, and with $\frac{crap}{\epsilon}$ thrown in, it is ugh.

Sucks though, was so close to finishing Lost, then having drunk EoH radio host Sunset as a sequel. Lmao

5468742
Ack, well, I'm wishing you the best of luck with the poems. Gas station sushi sounds... Disturbing.:unsuresweetie:

God yeah math writing or coding in general gets so tedious at times. Just...you can only take so much drudgery.

Now I want drunk radio host Sunset. Maybe I need to write that as a random short. Just Sunset breaking into her college radio station and taking it over while drunk. Maybe with Adagio's help for the laughs.

5468747
If you want, I can DM you what I had... once I clean it up a little. It was inspired off a manga, one of my favorites at the time, the story itself is a weird twisted supernatural anthology of sorts. With Sunset using those stories as late night entertainment for an under-the-desk job she gets cause she was recorded drunk at a bar. XD

It waz actually pretty fun.

5468760
By all means, go right ahead. I don't mind.

5468535
So did I! I always thought they'd do Klingon battle simulations together or something.

God, I can just imagine Worf being tormented endlessly by Pinkie... and then Lwaxana and Alexander join her in revelry and make it even worse :pinkiecrazy:

5468825
I can see that. I can also see Dash trying to use a bat'leth and stabbing herself with it, only for Dr. Crusher to sigh in massive exasperation at how she once again has to fix up one of Dash's dumb injuries...

Oh god no Lwaxana, Pinkie, and Alexander all together... that has disaster written all over it.
