Was the King Sombra in the Season 9 Premiere a fake? · 7:35pm Feb 15th, 2021
Since we already know that 'Grogar' was actually Discord who's to say that his magic didn't fake other things as well?
For one thing, comparing King Sombra in his debut episode to his 'return' in the season 9 premiere you notice differences and inconsistencies between his two appearances.
1. Personality
King Sombra in his debut appearance is seen as a very sinister and malicious unicorn who ruled over The Crystal Ponies with an Iron Hoof, has a dark and menacing voice and rarely speaks.
'King Sombra' in his 'return' has a very notable flamboyant personality and is the typical maniacal depiction of a cartoon villain, has a semi-deep flamboyant voice and speaks quite a lot.
2. Ideals and Knowledge
After seizing over the Crystal Empire and destroying the Tree of Harmony, 'King Sombra' has the idea to take over Ponyville next because he knows that's where Twilight lives. For one thing why would Sombra know this? He was recently 'revived' after all.
Another thing that doesn't make sense is his lack of surprise upon seeing Flurry Heart, very strange wouldn't you say?
Now you say i,t it weird that Somba know about ponyville since ponyville was found 1000 years later and Somba has no way of knowing where the heros live. Unless he follows the Twilight and friend to ponyville, there no way that he know about ponyville so I think he a fake. But if Somba was brought back to life, then I go by his comic version then season 9

The Siege of the Crystal Empire... Gosh, that was a great arc.
5454723
Agree, I love that arc
A very interesting theory indeed.
Too bad both the original Sombra and the new one has been blown to pieces, and there is apparently no way to bring either of them back from the dead.
5454724
However, I prefer the "Reflections" arc. That is a masterpiece.
5454730
That I can agree with, some of the comic are masterpiece and Reflection is one of them
5454724
It's a very entertaining arc but it's not really canon, you'd think they would bring up Radiant Hope after 'Sombra's' defeat if it actually was.
5454733
Yeah, and Radiant Hope seem like a good character. Canon or not, Some of the Sombra comic are canon to me
That's an interesting theory.
Logical. Though realistically the writers were getting so lazy at that point I wouldn't doubt it that they just didn't BOTHER to keep Sombra consistent beyond 'bad guy.'

I guess you could see it that way, but I personally believe that this fake Sombra was created by Discord to teach Twilight and the others a lesson about the Elements of Harmony.

A badly written lesson.
