Why are there only two scenes featuring Ocellus' family?

I had thought Thorax to be her guardian until I realized she had one, good grief.

Mother, Father, Younger Brother and Younger Sister. Barely know anything about them.

Her dad appears in the episode about selecting a Vice-Headmare.

But yes, they should have had more development.

And her Mother as well, that Octavia scene was one of the scenes I was referring to. The other being the Hearthswarming scene.

To dispell the perception that every one of the young six are the children of foreign leaders and dignitaries. Having Ember and Thorax bring Smolder and Ocellus left many people assuming that they were the parents.

I never really believed Smolder was related to Princess Ember, it makes more logical sense that the dragon lord who first learned about friendship would be the one to take Smolder to learn about it.

There were a few that jumped to that conclusion though. Many cling to the idea that Ocellus is a potential Queen Changeling (due to what she experienced under the school when trapped there by the Tree of Harmony.) and that all changelings are children of Chrysalis. They just adopted the family groupings idea from mimicking pony traditions.
