My dog Grey died today · 11:32am Dec 20th, 2020

..due to unrecoverable cancer-related medical problems. More accurately, he was euthanasied via injection. I tried to avoid such outcome, but guess there was not much available for me (low income, single) to do in such case ..... Cancer was unoperable anyway, there was very bleak chance to live on painkillers for some more time, but ..I was simply not up to this task. As long as he was able to walk even slowly on his own - I tried to clean up all those skin problems he developed last year. But he started to literally fail from his legs yesterday. And I was unable to properly batche him - due to his fear of bathtube and me just barely able to lift him up (so there always was risk of additional injury).

He exposed a lot of less than positive tendencies in me during his final months (I yelled at him for his increased need to go outside {like from 4 times per day to nearly six}, for example. First thing I come to after woken up was often my computer and not my dog.. shocking, but true :( ). I'm ..thankful for this, now I know my limits a bit better..

But honestly, I'd prefer him to pass out naturally, like from heart failure or somesuch. But I guess (from talk with vet) cancer end still typical for 12-14 years old dogs ... even if he was happy to follow me and look/sniff others just yesterday (even if he was coming very slowly and in halty manner to see someone I was talking with). This was in morning, and by 6pm he failed in elevator ..... and then few times in my room , in row. So today I called vet ... And my dog is history, now.

Now, I will have all my time to sleep ......

I went through the exact same thing, gut tumor followed by kidney failure in my old dog. Euthanized her on the trip to the vet. If you need to talk or vent, my PMs are open.

Thanks, but I don't think I have much more to say - so, I'll live on .....
