If your a Writer, do you do this? · 10:11am Dec 9th, 2020
I just wanna ask if any writers also read other stories to get them into the flow of writing your own chapters. Like if you want to write a romantic scene for a chapter you go read a romance story or for a fighting scene you read a chapter from an action story. I usually like to read Harms Way's story's for romance along with Holy to get my mindset on a good romance scene, by the way go check them out they make good content, and I read wolf among us if I wanna visualize a good fight scene (that or watch anime).
Sorry for the little rant/question, but I jus' wanna know any other writers do this. That is all.

Sometimes. On other occasions, I like to read my own story, so that I can get back the flow

I do that too, it does help when I remember something or someone I forgot about

It can also fix potential plot holes that were missed while writing it
I read many other stories, and also the comments, trying to figure out what people did or didnt like about them, before going and writing chapters for mine. Also, I see ideas that look good, so I take them, and add them so other pieces that I liked from other stories, and then fit them into mine. I'll actually say this, the scene in my Titanfall story, when Cooper is in a city in the desert, is actually from another Titanfall story. And Canterlot in the mountain? Thats from a gundam displaced, and it made sense. So, I used it, tweaking it a bit, and making it into my version of their idea. Again, I hate to say it, but i will, I do this often, and it usually works well, and people actually do like it. So, if its a question about morality and doing, go ahead, but make the idea into your own style of it. Thats my advice.
