Instrumental

Story:
Sergeant “Nightbite” Mitchell was originally a changeling scout sent into Canterlot to scout it out, mainly checking the defense system. During the mission he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit. After a chase that went through Canterlot, Nightbite and his friend, Corporal Midnight, found themselves running through streets. Unfortunately, Midnight died after being caught in a dynamite trap she tried to set. During the explosion, a piece of shrapnel hit a tree, which collapsed onto his left hind hoof, crushing it. Fearing capture, he took out a survival knife and amputated his hoof. He then wrapped it up as best he could and proceeded to drag himself for three minutes to a nearby outpost, where they wrapped his hoof up properly and then sent him back to the Hive, where he received a wooden hoof so he could walk. He also changed his name to “Mitchell” (Midnight’s nickname for him) so that the ponies would think Nightbite was dead. To seal the deal, Chrysalis awarded Nightbite with the Final Resting Cross, an award given to soldiers fallen in battle.

Later, during the Second Pony-Changeling War, Mitchell was rewarded with the Queen’s Mane for his bravery and the Bronze Star for his sacrifice on the battlefield.
