State of the Story/Holiday Break · 5:35am Nov 23rd, 2020
For those who don't have time/desire to read this post, the long and short of it is Severed Ties will be going on holiday break at least until the end of the year. I've been struggling with what else to say, so if you'd like a wordy ramble explanation, please continue below.

I'm not sure how many people reading the story actually worry about these blog posts, but for those of you who do I wanted to let you know how things were going and warn you that this week's chapter will be the last for a bit, at least until next year. Now before anyone worries, I still have every intention of seeing it through, but with the holidays coming and everything being a home affair, there's more than usual to actually prepare.
A lot has changed for me since starting this story. I have less time quiet time to write these days. I miss lunch and break times in a quiet office. These days it's juggling kids' Zoom meeting times and providing a constant stream of snacks.
Truth be told I have been struggling with the next few chapters and since my writing time is limited I haven't been trying to force it. Instead, I've been writing whatever my brain is in the mood for which lately is the four or so chapters after the ones I need plus other random scenes and the epilogue. I don't question it. I figure why force out 500 words on something when I'm motivated to write this 1500 word scene.
By my current outline, I have 12 chapters to go after this week's is published. That will likely grow as some of the scenes I have yet to write are probably going to get long and get split up. Right now, my best guess is that we're over halfway there, and of those 12 I've probably written almost half of the scenes, though it's still in need of a lot of editing.
My plan right now is to take some time off and hopefully get my brain back on track. On that note, I did manage to write a lot of one of the scenes I had been struggling with for Chapter 22 so hopefully, that's a good sign. I think at this point I'll have to get back to you after the holidays to see where I'm at and what posting is going to look like. I've got some new characters to figure out to write for plus a few returning that I have to remember how to write. (I'm looking at you Applejack.)
This wasn't what I'd hoped for when I started publishing this story, and you all have been amazing and supportive so I will not leave you hanging. This story has been in the back of my mind for well over a year and getting it finished is the only way to excise it from my brain. It's just going to take a bit more time than I had planned. I hope you all stick with me.
Thank you and see you tomorrow
Thx for the update and hopefully after your break you'll be able to finish it when we get to 2021.
If you feel like bouncing ideas or need a beta-reader, I'm open.
See you tomorrow! I’ll miss you and this story durning the break!
I appreciate you letting me know I very much enjoy your story and understand sometimes life is chaos plus understandable it is the holidays coming up and personally I'd rather you not rush everything. I hope you enjoy your break and come back for fresh and happy so I look forward to this coming up chapter and what comes after.
Take the time you need.
Well then, Happy VERY early new years!!!
Take your time. No need to rush, the pay off is worth the wait. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
