It's All About Me! (This Blog Post, I Mean) · 7:10am Nov 8th, 2020
So, this is my first blog post! I'm writing this mostly because I want to get some of my thoughts on MLP out there, and don't want to just spam comments with irrelevant stuff that only I want to talk about. In any case, welcome!
Firstly, shipping! My main ship would have to be Flutterdash. I am also partial to Scootabelle (sometimes with Apple Bloom thrown in), as well as Smolcellus. There are also various other ships that I like with varying degrees of intensity. However, I will read fics about pretty much any ship, assuming that they are well-written and not about a ship I personally dislike. For instance, Twilight Sparkle x Flash Sentry. Just to clarify, that's an example of a ship I don't like.
Secondly, one or two fics I really enjoy! I'm currently quite enamored with RainbowDoubleDash's Reformverse, as I like to call it. You know, Queen Chrysalis Reforms (Accidentally), Trouble in Tiatarta, etc.
Thirdly, my ponysona. I don't really have a solid reason for creating one, other than "Hey, why not?" Anyways, I don't really have a complete concept fleshed out yet, but he has a name, Mercurial Moon, an appearance (you should be able to find a picture somewhere on this page), and a vague idea for a special talent. Namely, being able to be completely random. Hey, if it works for Pin . . . Actually, he's not quite random enough to break the laws of physics, so nevermind about her.
Lastly, a topic of discussion. How do all you guys and gals feel regarding the canonicity of The Last Problem? The options, as I see them, are as follows:
A) All of it is canon;
B) None of it is canon; OR
C) The story of the coronation is canon, but the framing story itself is not.
There's also the possibility of cherry-picking elements from the "20 Years Later" portion of the episode, but given that that's a matter of personal preference as to which elements, specifically, are cherry-picked, I'm simplifying the choices a bit. I would personally go with option C, myself, but I don't mind fics that include elements of the future setting, so long as they're well-written. I just don't really use said elements in my personal headcanon. Especially the implied Appledash relationship. I don't have anything against the ship, per se, but it gets in the way of Flutterdash.
In any case, if you feel so inclined, feel free to comment on your personal take on The Last Problem. Or not! That's totally up to you. In any case, thanks for reading this long and rambling post. See you soon!
