Hello everypony,
If you've seen recent blog posts, you know I've been cancelling my stories. I've lost interest in writing and...well, I honestly haven't been able to come up with ideas for my stories. This includes A Lost Sunset, as I had no idea where to go with it, and still don't.
Now, let me explain why I'm cancelling this one, as its more than just not getting any ideas and losing interest. A Lost Sunset is my most popular story, which...if I'm totally honest, I originally wrote it to last like...a week. I just had an idea where Sunset loses her memory at the start of her stay in the human world and thought up some random ideas where just everything crazy happening to her. Instead, it got popular, so I continued it. However, I ran out of ideas really quickly, and just improvised a ton of stuff. Honestly, I'm embarrassed I did that, as I've learned that planning is everything when it comes to writing.
TL;DR, I'm sorry, but I don't think I can come up with any more ideas for the story, and I'm embarrassed about the story because...I look back at it and...its sad. I was really not a good writer. It has been a good experience though.
And for any wondering what the ending of the story would have been, Sunset was going to return to Equestria. I then wanted to have Sunset be with Twilight into the Season 1 opener, and have Twilight believe she doesn't need friends because she has Sunset as her friend. I thought that was a fun idea.
Oh, and another idea was that human Luna would find out about Sunset, but human Celestia would not until the very end. That and the final arc before Equestria was Sunset meeting Sci-Twi...by first meeting her picking up Spike at the animal shelter Fluttershy works at. That was my 'out of nowhere encounter'.
So, at the end of the day, I'm sorry. I know people love this story, but...I don't know how to continue the story, or where the story would have gone. I at least wanted to tell everyone how the story would have ended though.
Endings are more difficult than beginnings.

I'm really sad to hear this as it was quite good.
A Lost Sunset was one of the first stories I read on this site and it’s a shame that it will never be finished. At least was has been written is enjoyable and hopefully will inspire others to write something similar as it’s a horribly underused theme for Sunset’s arrival through the mirror.

No, nothing like that. The part where they're in Equestria was actually going to be a comedy. Twilight not wanting to interact with others, thinking one friend is enough and the amnesic Sunset in utter shock as she doesn't remember how to be a pony, only to immediately told to go save the world from Nightmare Moon. That was the main idea for that part. The series would have ended with them beating Nightmare Moon and the main show starts.
I probably should have said that in the blog post, but the idea was always just that: An idea.

Dude, I haven't heard from you in awhile. It's me, Elec, but changed name. Anyways... I remember reading the fic, and getting hooked. You did know what to write, so you're still a good writer in my book. That said, something happening to the Dazzlings? I do remember their roles there.
