Dashie's Birthday + Updates · 12:23am Sep 18th, 2020
Wow... It's been a long time since I've written one of these, or written anything on here for that matter. Another September 17th has rolled around, and this would be Dashie's 8th year with her Daddy. Obviously they forgot to tell us that COVID was going to happen in their story but I guess I'll forgive them. Happy Birthday to Dashie, though! Anyways, I really wanted to make a new story for today like I did in 2017 and 2018 (sorry for none in 2019 either, I was nonexistent with college), but right around that time was when I had a big old essay I had to write for a class. Funny how I say that, seeing how it was only 1,500 words, which barely classifies as a short story on here, but it's a lot harder when you gotta stick to lame parameters.
To compensate for all of this, however, I have decided that I want to redo certain parts of "My Little Dashie: The Aft5rlife", even if it has been nearly four years since I first published it and the show has long since ended. It hasn't happened as of yet, but I am hoping that one day my story can have its own reading, whether it's coming from me or someone else. So, I wanted to change the story to make it the best that it can be for when this does eventually happen (hopefully). I have already published a whole chapter of changes. Chapter 11 will now be told from Dashie's perspective instead of pretty much copy-pasting from the original story, as that was always something that irked me. It goes against the story's natural pattern, but this does offer a unique perspective of the event. With this change, I also included Brian's journals that he left behind for Dashie in My Little Dashie: Fourth Times the Charm, as I realized that I forgot to mention her finding them. It doesn't get as much attention as I wanted to give it, but it'll have to do. Other changes I plan on making include an actual explanation for Forest and what his deal was. I took the easy way out over three years ago because I didn't want the story to go on for too long. I might also change the whole NASCAR track thing in the final chapter, whenever I go back through it always feels out of place and a bit bumpy, but we'll see.
Other than that, I'm hoping that doing this gives me the motivation to start writing stories again, but I feel like it will be difficult because viewership is down on the site compared to a couple of years ago, which makes sense. But I can't really see myself writing about any other topic, to be honest. Oh well, I hope everyone has a great day!
