Xenoblade Chronicles in the Sequel · 5:35pm Jul 28th, 2020
I'm actually playing Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, trying to find out how I will be able to integrate this universe in the sequel to A Sweetie Dreamland. I may have an idea of where in the timeline I could place the disruptive element (before Shulk and co enter Mechonis), but there are still so many problems that I must take into account...
Spoiles about big plot twists of the game.
For exemple, the fact that Zanza inhabits Shulk's body and that Meyneth is in Fiora's body. Or the fact that the Monado, to put it simply, can't work outside of the Xenoblade Chronicles universe because it works by manipulating the ether of said universe (which isn't present in other universes). Or Dickson being a Giant working for Zanza. And WTF should I do about Alvis?
And I still have Persona, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest behind. And if they add Sora from Kingdom Hearts...
To be fair, wasn't Shulk one of the characters who needed to be nerfed so that the rest of the cast would have things to do? And even with his special protagonist powers revoked, don't they still have mecha?
To be honest, I really don't know any of the stories of certain games for some of the characters. Mostly, in the case of Cloud, Joker, Shulk, or even the Fire Emblem characters is that I never got the chance to play their games. On their own they seem like decent people to work with, but when you include the lore from their universes it tends to get confusing.
I would recommend leaving out some games left out if your gonna make a really big crossover story, but thats up to you to decide if you want to make it true to Super Smash Bros as closely as possible.

Shulk's powers mostly come from the Monado, a sword that can manipulate the ether (the energy from the Xenoblade Chronicles universe) to do what he wants with the world depending of his will. To put it simply, in the Xenoblade Chronicles universe, the Monado user, with enough will, can become a god.
But that's the thing. The ether doesn't exist outside of the Xenoblade Chronicles universe, so this means that outside of this universe, the Monado doesn't become better than a simple bat. All the stuff about changing the stats or predicting the future wouldn't work anymore. Shulk would be like Joker without his Personas, a teenager/young adult with some fighting skills and that's all.
So, now, I must find a way to make it so the Monado will be able to work, at least to some extend, outside of the XCverse.
As for the mechas, they only exist in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Well, there are some mechas in Xenoblade Chronicles, but they aren't as developped. The Faces could be considered as mechas, but only some special people can use them because to use them, you must become a part of them, and so, become some kind of cyborg/android.
The only thing that could make Shulk useful outside of fighting with his Monado is that he's a very good mecanic. He's pretty much the equivalent of Twilight in this domain.

Or I could manipulate evets in my advantage so that the character is encountered, but their world isn't explored.

It sounds like he would be pretty excited seeing all the otherworldly tech he now has access to. Combined with the fact that there isn't enough room in a coherent fight scene for everyone you're involving in this, relegating him to Slippy's workshop doesn't sound like the worst fate (especially since it's emphasizing a part of the character that Smash itself couldn't work in).

Yeah, I could do this. And yeah, you're right, there would be far too many characters for the fights, but I got an idea about this.
My personal headcannon involving the Monado is that it would probably morph itself in such a way so it can use whatever energy that universe used.

Maybe it could, but I think it's very unlikely. The Monado is too tied to the Xenoblade Chronicles universe, so I don't think it was thought of it morphing to adapt to other universes.
Also, I just thought about it, but the characters from XC all need ether to survive. So if they go out of the XCverse, they will have to find a way to replenish themselves in ether to not waste away.

Hey until something official comes along to clearly prove the theory wrong, I'm sticking with it.
well, its possible that the characters of xenoblade could hypothetically self generate their own ether similar to how a human body generates electricity through ions, and as for the monado Zanza himself has a massive ether supply coming from inside him (him being a god and all) , and by proxy from Shulk since he is his lifeforce. Shulk also couldn't use the monado as well as he could if he was in his own universe along with having trouble with visions as he needs ether to do so but again. Since Zanza is Shulks life force he could use his own ether reserves to produce a smaller more immediate vision, and use some of the basic monado arts.
