Take a minute to be kind to someone today, even if that someone is you. We all need a little more kindness, giving and receiving.

New chapter for A Balance of Fire and Light dropping ...

    A few minutes ago actually.
So yeah, if you haven't already why not check out my newest chapter in A Balance of Fire and Light: Ghosts of the Present.
Anyway, in the next chapter Everyone Sleeps!
Seriously? You're passing that off as a teaser?
Yeah, it doesn't spoil anything and is technically correct. The best kind of correct!

    Upcoming chapters

I'm still going to endeavor to put out a chapter a month, but unfortunately my writing has been slow lately and while I know where I'm taking the story, getting there is taking even more time.
Part of my slowness comes from not having a solid framework to build off of. When the series was running I had that framework but I don't have that with this story.

I think this sums up my page pretty well.

I'd like to thank Lurks-no-more for this brilliant summation which I feel is quite accurate for my writing.

A stroke of genius, yes. Also known as an aneurysm of poetry.

    A small update this month

This month we have A Series of Calls.
    There's more coming up.
I swear I haven't been distracted by Elden Ring since the announcement of it's upcoming DLC.
On an unrelated note, any tips for fighting Malenia?

Another blog story in Fallout dude 50's style.
I don't remember what inspired me to write this, but it was pretty sudden.

You three really have romance on the mind, don't you?

*Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom nodded eagerly.*

Nah, I bet this story is less romance, more fighting.

*chuckling and shaking his head* Ahh, wow. I think I was around your sister's ages when Lucca and I first met.

How long ago was that?

For me, more than five hundred years. Thankfully, I still remember it. Alright … I had just figured out how to travel to other worlds and hers was the first I went to. Our worlds weren't quite aligned in time and I arrived in her distant future. Over a thousand years after she lived.

So how did you meet if it was a thousand years after she lived?

He has a time machine, I bet he went back and met her.

Was she in trouble?

The time machine came from Lucca's world. But she hadn't even found it yet. She was using time gates to travel between eras. And actually it was quite the opposite, I was the one in trouble and she saved me.

I was trying to find my way through some ruins and had been turned around I don't know how many times. Fighting for my life against horrifying mutant things. I think they may have been mutant carnivorous tomatoes. Unfortunately for me it was a losing battle and the more I ran the more tired I got.

*gasp* You ran?

Yes I did. I was terrified and badly hurt. And I did not want to die to some experiment gone wrong either. Anyway, I was finally unable to run anymore. I was backed in a corner and bleeding badly. While I was ready for what was about to happen I was determined to not let it get an easy meal. I clenched my fists and prepared to counter whatever it tried. Then, without any warning, it went up in flames.

I was astonished. I genuinely believed I was going to die there. As the flames died down I saw three silhouettes that eventually gained color. Unfortunately I was still bleeding badly and passed out before I saw anything more definite.

When I came to …

Lucca was treating your injury?!

*Shaking his head* Nope, it was her friend, Nadia. Lucca was checking her napalm grenades, taking inventory of what she had left. I thanked them all and they asked me who I was and what I was doing there.

Nadia asked if I was from the past like they were, because apart from being almost dead I was pretty healthy. I had to summarize that I was from a different timeline, which wasn't entirely inaccurate. Once Lucca had finished counting she turned and looked at me.

“So you're a traveler too?” She asked.

Was it love at first sight?

*Laughing* Maybe a bit for me. Nadia was cute, but Lucca had my attention from the moment I saw her. I doubt it went the other way though: I was never really a looker.

And that's the first time we met. It turns out I was in a place called Site 32. She had spotted me while they were racing this Johnny guy to try to get across safely and doubled back to save me. She may have thick glasses, but when she's wearing them she doesn't miss a detail.

After that I went with them to the next time gate. But that's a whole different story.

I want to hear that one.

My part in getting to the gate is uninteresting I was still recovering. Lucca's got the real story there. Anyway, let's save it for next time, I think it's about time for you girls to be getting home.

What if we stay over tonight? Then you can tell us the whole thing!

Tell you what, if the three of you get the okay to stay here: I'll tell you more of the story. It's too long to tell you everything in just one sitting.

*Visibly excited* I already know Aunty Lofty will say yes!

Then go ask her.

The CMCs run off, only to return later with Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash.

I guess they got the okay.

Of course, dear. But you can't seriously expect us to miss out on this story.

*Chuckling* Alright ... So Lucca and her friends had just dragged me out of Site 32 …
