The Disney Sequel Trilogy might be de-canonized and I really hope it is! · 4:42am Jun 30th, 2020

https://cosmicbook.news/disney-resetting-star-wars-erasing-last-jedi

The Last Jedi is a horrible movie. Rise of Skywalker is okay, not as bad as TLJ. And Force Awakens is also okay, mostly. But Rey is a bad character and overall, this whole thing needs a reboot. The reboot needs rebooting and the people responsible for the sequels need the regular boot.

With this news, there's rumors swirling that LucasFilm has plans to nullify the entire sequel trilogy. No more Rey, Finn or Poe. The only thing we're really losing is Finn, so I hope he makes it into something else. Jon Boyega is an actually decent actor and Finn is a funny, well-rounded character.

The Star Wars franchise has floundered under the direction of Kathleen Kennedy and the SJW, neo-feminist narrative. Hard-Left loonies in Hollywood have had too much control, too much influence for too long. Thankfully, they've stayed away from SWTOR, for the most part, so there's at least one bright spot in this galaxy far, far away. And now we have news they may just hit the reset button on most of the stuff they did that killed interest and potential in the franchise, so that's good, too. Sure it's not easy, but this is a fictional world so you literally can do pretty much anything you want for any reason.

According to an old report, Disney originally said they wanted to make Episode 7 "for the fans." Yet their tone-deaf actions afterward makes me question the validity of their initial statement. They've shown similar to disdain for their fans that Lucas developed over the years. And while I do very much fault George Lucas for that(and so does he, probably), at the very least with George, it took decades. Disney started hating Star Wars fans overnight. Again, some of the blame is ours- the Rose Tico twitter incident didn't help anyone, but you can't lump all fans together.

At any rate, I really hope these rumors are true and that they go through with it. It would be good for movies and intellectual properties in general to demonstrate the message that no matter how big or successful a franchise is, it is not immune to making mistakes. No matter how big or successful a company is,or a person is, they can still make mistakes. And sometimes, it's okay to go back and fix them, to redo things or make something new to replace it. After all, everybody makes mistakes. Star Wars Episodes 8 and 9 were definitely mistakes.

I mean, Disney gave us some good things, like the Vader comics, Rebels, etc
But true, yay for reboot

I wouldn't get too excited, this seems like a big step for the usually-cautious Disney.

That said, I would love if they retconned the First Order out of existence, or at least the version that is somehow massively more powerful than the entire New Republic. Imagine stories where the "Resistance" actually has to govern this crazy, fractious galaxy while former Imps are operating less as an ideological resistance of their own and more as a collection of warlords and bandits, while still tenuously connected to former Imp high command out in the galactic badlands or whatever its called.

So basically, the plot of Mandelorian, the best Star Wars of the 2010s.

I would hope they keep Poe and Rose though, I liked those characters as well. Heck, if Rey was just a normal student under Luke, I'd probably like to see her as the next great Jedi.

let's keep our fingers crossed

You're quite right, but there's some real people in power butting heads. I also liked Poe and Rose, despite the fact they both feel shoehorned into the story. The actors were both decent. I liked the scene where Rose talks about her sister and what it means to be a hero, she gives a stern upper-lift speech. I liked Poe when he was in the cockpit. His deliver is nice and even, excited but not over the top. But Finn is the only one who truly feels like he's part of the Star Wars universe.

The past is the only thing that can't be changed. Until we get time machines.
