Morning folks, as promised I have given some thought to a solution to the problem regarding We're Not In Europe Anymore... and have come to a conclusion. I spoke to a moderator on this site yesterday regarding posting two separate stories, one as a rewrite while still keeping the original up, but he recommended to me that I simply delete the old chapters to the original and post rewrites, and he gave me permission to unpublish and eventually republish the original once the rewrites are finished. So, after thinking it over, I have decided that I will be going with that option, here are the main reasons why:
1. The story was posted before there were major changes to the way tags work today, and for me to edit tags that will likely change (such as romance) and for me to add tags that fit the story's description more, I would have to change around the tags, and the text descriptions. So I would likely need to unpublish the story first to avoid confusion.
2. By republishing the story as new, it will hopefully regain the steady following it once had. Now, I am not focused on getting views or likes or anything of that matter, I just feel that it is fair to the idea that I had to begin with, and that a fresh start is the best way to put my mind at ease.
3. I am planning on having a schedule for posting chapters, either once a week if I have them written and edited in time, or bi-weekly. Since I am not planning on deleting chapters and unpublishing the fic until I have a steady flow of chapters to post and be able to keep on schedule, leaving the chapters there and keeping the story public only to delete the chapters and have only one there will only cause confusion in my eyes.
I am already plotting out new characters and coming up with a more linear plot as I post this, hell, I reworked the entirety of Castillo's platoon to add more fleshed out characters and make the troop more historically acceptable last night. Spent nearly four hours doing research and coming up with names, heh. So this is going to happen, it's just a matter of when I am ready.
