Under the specter of COVID-19 · 8:07pm Mar 24th, 2020

It's amazing how much Seattle has changed.

A month ago, everything was relatively normal. The economy was somewhat stable. Downtown was still full of vendors, shoppers, and street musicians. The virus was something to be concerned about, yes, but it was distant. Every new case seemed to happen in another country; something to worry about, maybe pray over once or twice, then forget about. It was someone else's problem.

Now, everything's turned upside-down. With the exceptions of grocery stores, doctors offices, and other "essential services", most everything has been shut down. Thanks to the Governor's new "stay-at-home" order, you can't go anywhere unless it's absolutely necessary. At the Amazon warehouse where I work, only two people are allowed to sit a table at the same time, and everyone needs at least six feet of personal space. On Sundays, my family doesn't go to church. Instead, we huddle around a laptop and listen to our pastor's sermon over a speaker.

They say we might have to live like this for at least two weeks. God, I hope so. Any longer and I might turn homicidal.

My mom said that this whole thing might blow over in 6 weeks from what've been told we only have 124 cases and 4 deaths thanks to this virus in Kentucky.

You're lucky; Washington has over 1000 confirmed cases; most of them in King County.

Stay safe, Flint! I have friends there in Seattle and I know how scary and uncertain these times are. Know we are thinking of you.

It is going to be a lot longer than 2weeks. That curve hasn't started to bend. Figure several months.

Yeah I know NY, CA, and WA are having the most of the cases including the deaths.

Over here in Florida, it's... very weird honestly. It's quiet, and yeah you see people going out to shop and such and at times you think nothing is wrong but then you realize something is.
