How's Everyone?

I hope everyone is well and staying that way. This Coronavirus has got me worried. I live in WA, which is the hot-spot for this thing.

I don't have anything very uplifting to talk about at the moment; I'm just hoping everyone is alright.

Currently doing fine. Feeling a little cooped up, but I'll gladly take that over inadvertently spreading the virus to a few dozen people.

Same. My work finally approved and set up telework so I can distance even more. There were too many people out and about just doing stuff last weekend.

I'm doing alright... There aren't many cases here in Ottawa, but I'm at really high risk due to my completely disfunctional lungs. It's scary, but it really makes me appreciate the effort everyone is going through to self-isolate and keep people like me safe.

I'm pondering the economics of this pandemic. Businesses closing, jobs lost, fewer hours, etc.

I feel for the folks living paycheck to paycheck, and now the rug is pulled out from under them.

At least there are videogames and films to keep us occupied in the interim. And fanfictions too, one supposes.

I wish you the best. Hopefully things in Canada don't get out of hand. I wish people in this country were taking it more seriously. It was just this week Washington Governor issued a 'stay at home' order.

Most people are going to be hurting coming out of this. We are looking at Great Depression levels of unemployment. Hopefully those are temporary though, and people can get their jobs back; I feel for small business owners who are going to be hit the hardest. Still it will take years to fully recover as is the nature of our boom/bust neoliberal economy.
