    Maybe, possibly writing a fic

Hoo boy, first Blog. Here we go. As the title mentions, I have a fic in the works. Yay! :yay: And it's totally without any planning, anything! straight to paper as people like to say. I can't say when I'll be done, or when it comes out. But to those few following me; Help! help wanted, I have no clue how to write an actual fic! Any advice or anything really would be apreciated.

Post this in as many self promotion and/or collab groups as possible. It’s the best way to get results.

Thanks for the advice, I'm kinda new to the whole write a fix thing, so...

Think also about what you're trying to say with the characters and, perhaps build from that idea. Could you describe your ideas? :)

I've got maybe 13 gdocs full of my thoughts

If you like, PM me the link and I can look them over, then, if you like, I can give you a few thoughts. Cool?

Mm, thanks. I apreciate it. I have very little experience with writing. So I'm planning on an OC story or something. Focus on one thing and all that jazz.

I’m here for you.

Kinda late to the party, but seeing as you've left comments on my fic, I figured I'd respond here with some advice: Buy a copy of Strunk and White's Elements of Style, 4th Edition, from wherever you can find it. Read the entire thing. Then read it again; it isn't that long. Then put it on your desk and refer to it anytime you're writing anything.

It isn't the be-all and end-all guide to anything, but it can teach you a lot, and it is immensely helpful about certain technical aspects of grammar and writing structure.

Beyond that, make an outline. Don't just start writing, unless you have a clear idea of what you want to write, or unless you're prepared to change things later. You don't have to stick to the outline perfectly, but making a short description of a chapter, one scene at a time, or even just a general summary (not the same thing as an outline), can help tremendously.

That isn't to say you can't simply start writing whatever, but for critical plot points, you ought to set them in writing and leave the "I just want to write!" bits for filler material or interludes, and cut them out where they are too extraneous.

Oh wow, thank you so much for the advice. This will likely be a lot of help for me as I attempt to write something that is at the least readable.

As someone else has already pointed out try to make some sort of outline before you begin writing. Try to have a beginning and an end to your story, so you know where to start and where you will end up. Write down small notes about the characters and what inner journey you want them to go on throughout your story. What will be their character arc? What will your story's main conflict be about? Do you have any subplots planned? I recommend buying the books Creating character arcs and Structuring your novel by K.M. Weiland. I can also recommend the two books Save the cat! Writes a novel by Jessica Broody and On writing and worldbuilding by Timothy Hickson. These four books give you some great insight into not just writing but also the whole process of creating a story. Another book by K.M. Weiland that you might want to look up is Outlining your novel, that will work in tandem with these other books.
