The Master Mev is on its way

Greetings reader,

This is my first blog post. I'm hoping, hoping so, so hard, that I will finally be sharing a Rainbow Dash fanfiction, The Master Mev, I've been working on at length since around December 2018 when my love for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic TV series was rekindled. For assorted reasons, Rainbow Dash stole my heart then into an obsession that I haven't ever quite experienced before, which is impressive considering how obsessed I was with Devil Jin from the Tekken video game series for many years before her.

To clarify on my little timeline here, I haven't actually worked on the story for over a year straight. I took an extended hiatus when the news of the series ending hit me much harder than expected since I'd gone six years with little awareness and care in the first place. Even so, I have spent notable months on writing this story. I don't have a planned ending, sorry to say, but I am enjoying the journey so I hope you do too.

A few pieces of extraneous information: Season 8 is actually my least favorite season of the series, but its end is where I caught up in October/November 2018. At the time, most of the fanfics I read here took place much earlier or in completely alternate timelines. I wanted something specifically around the end of season 8. After awhile, I got over that urge, but I did still like a lot of what I'd already laid out so just shifted the timeline for The Master Mev to start at the beginning of season 8.

Edit 11/01/2021-I have had over two years to think about things and will confess that actually season 9 is my least favorite. I almost always skip it when I listen to the episodes as background noise. I would like to go into why one day, but this little edit is not the place.

I like to ship Rainbow with Fluttershy, Rarity, and Twilight. The shipping is a bit loose you might say, and I believe the story will reflect that. It will be there albeit hardly the focus. Nope. The focus is me having fun with a Rainbow Dash power fantasy while using season 8 as backdrop for at least some drama and tension somewhere.

For the time being, my hope is to post 1-2 chapters per week on the weekend because I have 50+ drafted. The issue I'll be faced with, besides staying committed to continuing on from what I've got, is that I would like to have artwork accompanying chapters. If I do that, it will slow me down.

I'll be publishing the first chapter soon. I didn't realize it needed to be approved so my goal of having it specifically posted on February 1st (Rainbow Dash Day) might not be met.
