CHAPTER 6: Buy British: The Sweet Taste of Victory

The chapter title actually comes from a trade show exhibit from the UK government that I saw down in London. They were touting how much the Chinese people favour quality and branding. Many Chinese see British products as superior to others, and so desire them more and will pay extra for them. The Author's Note section has a link to an article about it.

'nitty gritty' - the salient points of the issue. Another underused phrase.

I do actually know a Mr Goldstraw who is a farmer. It's just the perfect name don't you think? This part of the story is essentially proving a two-way causal link between events in both dimensions.

'Official Party Governmental Security Business' - so much easier to get things done than in a democracy.

'Full Moon' - in fanservice Celestia is usually depicted with a fuller figure than Luna due to the post-reform size difference, and possibly because Celestia loves cake so much. In this fic, I've swapped that around during the dimensional rift influence with Celestia (now pink) more like Cadance's build. As such, Luna's new name refers to her... fuller figure. Also I get to use the word voluptuous.

'beams of intensive mage-work flowed like liquid metal' - think liquid mercury. For some reason flowing mercury was used a lot in 1980/90s videos as I recall. Probably because it was a cool looking 3D render to show off the new technology. Usura's 'Open Your Mind' is typical of this sort of music video.

'The building grew in size... at oblique angles.' - I didn't mean this to sound dirty. But somehow every part of this description, even when truncated, comes across like that.

'Van de Griiff generator' - I'm very proud of this one. I don't know about Americans, but in the UK every kid used to get to see / try a Van de Graaff static charge generator in science class.

'Rares' is no longer 'Scares'.

Where does Pinkie hide all these cupcakes? Hammerspace most likely.
