Slacking, and Scrivener! · 5:20pm Oct 27th, 2019
Blar. Had yesterday off. Woo! Though it was grey and rainy all day and I accomplished ... very little. Not as woo.
However, in a show of ostensible preparation for NanoWriMo (which I will probably still fail but still, effort!) I went ahead and downloaded a free trial of Scrivener last night. I've been poking around at it for a little bit, though I haven't gone and written anything just yet. And, uh, I'm procrastinating writing by posting about it here. Woo!
So yeah. My current go-to has been just writing in a single, terribly messy document. And, uh, transposing that into Scrivener and organizing it is kind of a mess. However, outlining a new project is a bit easier-- though I need to actually, uh, write stuff. Ehem. Again, I'm procrastinating. Though I have started mapping my NaNoWriMo project out in Scrivener, so that's a start? It's funny, as I've got little notes in there with stuff like "Giant Squirrel Attack" or "Nudity?" and so on. It will likely be a very silly book. Still need to think of a proper climax, though.
Honestly, my biggest thing thus far is a lack of an easy word count feature-- at least, that I've seen so far. If there's an option to put it on the side, it'd be great. I've gotten used to LibreOffice's little counter down in the corner. Gives ya a sense of accomplishment, y'know?
Anyway, do any of you guys use Scrivener? Any tips or tricks a newbie to the program should know? Thanks for the help!
