But I just realized something. At first, I was confused about the AppleDash ship in the finale. But when you think about it, it actually makes so much sense.
The constant competitions to prove that they are better than one another.
Rainbow Dash is disinterested in Zephyr Breeze, in multiple episodes, in fact from most male love interests altogether.
Applejack is disinterested in Trenderhoof, in fact from most male love interests altogether. (If I am wrong about these two in the middle, please let me know.)
Rainbow Dash's (almost borderline unhealthy) addiction to Applejack's cider.
Even taking a look back, there are few nods to it blossoming from a friendship.
I believe that it's canon. If you don't, then whatever. It's implied anyway, but it seems so obvious to me now.
Love is awesome. Count me in boys, AppleDash is canon and amazing!
Oh, and PINKIE HAD A KID?! Why must you blow my mind with not one, but two ships! And it's pretty obvious who the father is.
According to the transcript (during that scene alone):
Future Rainbow Dash: Maybe we could get to places on time if you let me do some of the chores instead of always doing everything yourself.
Future Applejack: Maybe I would if you did them the right way. Oh. Sorry. We're not the last ones, are we?
That's what they say. Nothing directly confirming a relationship status, per se, but to me, it's pretty obvious that they're together. They both seem to give affectionate looks to each other and both are together in the final song. Nothing was technically a "confirmed" ship based on that. I think it's all up for grabs anyway. Just like how Fluttershy and Discord appear to be a couple.
To me, everything just clicked.
There is that scene near the end of "Simple Ways" where Applejack says to Trenderhoof:
And Rarity cuts her off.
I've always thought Applejack was going to say "I'm a lesbian," and with the scene in the finale, that could very well have been true.
My headcanon is that Applejack had flings with Rarity and Rainbow Dash, but eventually chose Rainbow Dash.
