I used to think my life was a tragedy

Now I realize it's a comedy:

That's right, the Joker movie is out today! Anyone here hyped? I know I am. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was a bit skeptical at first. But when I heard it was an Elseworlds tale as well as an experiment, it alleviated my fears. And when I first saw the trailer, I immediately had hope. Hope that was later proven to be well-founded (but not without controversy but what did you expect from a movie based on the Clown Prince of Crime?)

Do you want to know something really funny about the Joker movie? The director, Todd Phillips, is known for raunchy comedies like the Hangover trilogy. Just like how I started on this site with the absolutely wacky Captain Goodking saga (even though it was a trilogy by that point) before moving onto the darker and more serious Old Mare Luna. Heck, Phillips and I both have a hit or miss track record, with some of his films getting good reviews while others had mixed to negative, just like my fanfics. Really, the only difference I can think of is our reasons for doing something darker than our usual stuff. The reason why Todd Phillips went to work on something like Joker is because he said, and I quote, "Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture". Yeah, I don't think it occurred to him that you can be funny without offending people (although I won't deny the offensive type of comedy is one of the best types of comedy). As for me, the only reason I decided to work on more serious fare is because I wanted both a challenge and a breath of fresh air. Also, I like doing comedies for the sake of it. They make me laugh.
