So, uh, PresentPerfect mentioned there's only two weeks (and four eps) of the show left. ENDGAME TERRITORY. Even though there have already been spoilers and leaks and whatever. It's fine.
But still! Smoke 'em if you got 'em, right? And here we have the Last CMC episode. DUN DUN DUNNNN. And, while I'm usually not a huge fan of the Cutie Mark Crusaders in general, I ... didn't hate this? In fact, it was rather fun. Admittedly, part of that comes from having new character designs that will inevitably be Rule 34'd on Derpibooru I hate the internet, and part of it comes from the fact that the Cutie Mark Crusaders spend most of the episode acting like stupid jerks, which is honestly hilarious. Plus, I kind of wonder what the recording process was with the various voice actors being allowed to deliver lines in "older" voices. I mean, those kids have been doing the dang show for the better part of a decade now. Time progresses like that. It's terrifying.
The funny thing is, this episode could easily be something from an earlier season (one of the good ones, take your pick). It's a nice, self-contained little story that deals with an issue the actual target audience is grappling with: the eagerness to grow up and actually DO stuff for yourself, and all that.
So yeah. While the Cutie Mark Crusaders aren't my favorite characters, this was a nice episode for them to go out on (so to speak), and it fits well into the rest of the show as a whole. So ... well ... nothing to do but hang out and wait for things to wrap up now, right?
And, sidenote, apparently Sunset Shimmer is bi. Between that and the "Rarijack is Canon!" tweets awhile back, I kinda love these "Production's over, here's what's up" peeks at behind the scenes.
Which reminds me I've got at least one more Equestria Girls fic in me to write at some point, buuuuut I've got bunches of other (non pony) stuff to work on first. Disappointing, I know.
At this point, I'm pretty sure they just delivered the lines in their normal voices.
But yes, the finale approaches. Nine years and two days after the show began, it will end. And we will continue.
Sunset being bisexual makes total sense and fits everything we've seen so far.
