A story I've been working on · 1:37am Sep 27th, 2019
Cutie Mark University has been on hiatus. I have the first couple chapters written, but it's not enough to feel confident and keep the ball rolling.
So in true writer's fashion, here's another story I've been working on, which is smaller in scope and more manageable:
Starlight and Sunburst try to keep a professional relationship while working together at the School of Friendship, but the students have a mission of their own: Get them to hook up.
Basically, Starlight and Sunburst (who are obvious shipping fuel) will try to restrain themselves in an effort to maintain a professional working relationship at the school of friendship. Meanwhile, in a back-and-forth fashion, the Student Six will play the roles of detectives and matchmakers, unwittingly trying to undo Starlight and Sunburst's attempts to remain professional. And while dealing with a little bit of romance/shipping themselves.
I'm going to try and write at least a little bit each day with this one. So far it's been going fairly well, so I figured I'd share my thoughts because it's been a while. Here's the cover art I'm going to use:
If you have any title suggestions, feel free to throw them at me. So far I'm pretty delighted with the one I came up with though: "Star Light, Star Bright, Won't You Let Us Ship Tonight?"
I would read that and I like that title
StarBurst: Not just a Candy?

More than just a candy
They're too cute.

Oh easily.
They've overtaken CheesePie and SoarinDash as my biggest ship

I hope you like Silverstream/Gallus as a ship as well then, because if my early writings are any metric, a side plot is certainly heading that direction...

Sounds like it'll be adorable
I already like the premise, but I feel the running title is a bit too wordy and kind of clunky. While it is ultimately your decision, I think a shorter title would be better fitted to what you have so far.
Something that emphasizes how the students (the student 6 I presume) see this as some sort of mission.
You could go with a Mission Codename type title like Operation Sunlight or Mission Codename: Starburst or something like that.
Whatever you decide to call it, my impending shenanigans sense is going off quite strongly towards your story.

It is a bit long. But it'll also only exist on the front page for a day or so (unless I get lucky and get featured). I liked it because it references a famous poem, talks about stars (which both their names allude to), and acts as the "wish" of the students to ship the two of them together.
But it's just a title lol. I should focus my brain on writing the story...

fair enough, as I said, ultimately it is your story and you could call it cheese and crackers as far as I'm concerned. But it will be nice to see what sort of shenanigans the student 6 and/or OC's get into trying to prepare the ship for sailing.
