A Job, a Girl, and Horrorclix too! (Oh yeah, and a name change)

Well, it's been a bit, huh? About two months if my math's right. From what I can tell, not too much has changed, has it? (Other than the format changes) Quite a lot's changed for me, at least. If the title hasn't clued you in enough, I managed to somehow landed a job loading boxes and shit like that; nothing too exciting, but it's pay so I'll take overtime if necessary. Turns out, having your own

    Just. Write.

My friend likes to say to me "You think too much, man.". And you know what? I agree with him wholeheartedly.

    Tranquility: Myth

You know, I always thought that when people talked about life moving too fast, I always thought that they were just being cliche and over exaggerating a few points. But lately, I can say that life tries to follow Pinkie Pie's example when it wants to slow down!

Holy Shit! Never have I been so confused, so frustrated, and so engrossed in a game. Granted, it took me a couple of hours, and many videos, to know what the fuck I was doing, but when I got into the feel of it, it got surprisingly fun! One might be turned off by the fact that you could lose the game by simply try to navigate the menu, and also the fact that the graphics are what would happen if you smashed your face against the keyboard and colored the text with random coloring. But beyond that, it's pretty fun. Actually, one can argue that the lack of graphics can let the creators throw in an infinite amount of events, battles, landscapes, and outcomes and do more than any game bound to visual graphics ever could.

Now, this is a subjective feel, but if you are into city-type management and enjoy the freedom to literally do whatever you want. Seriously, one time I was forced to convert all of my dwarfs into a necromancer's cult in a nearby tower just so I wouldn't be destroyed, but then they all died by his hands anyways; also, one time my entire settlement was swarmed by flies and bees and my entire settlement crumbled because all the food spoiled and my dwarfs kept getting stung and couldn't do anything productive. And I come by infinite amounts of stories that take on a plethora of turns and outcomes whenever I browse forums and such.

There's also an adventure mode were you can straight-out take control of a dude and do all sorts of shit, but right now I'm trying to still learn how to build forges so I can make some axes to kill those FUCKING GOBLINS... but I'm sure that adventure mode will be as cool and open, maybe more so since you're not tied down by a settlement.

I'm half-wanting to get some friends to get into this (though I highly doubt anyone would jump into this without some serious persuasion) just so we could swap crazy stories of how our fortresses fell, and great battles and great blunders. All I can say is, for a game literally made entirely from text, it might be very complex at the start, but in the end when you've learned everything you need to know, it's fricken epic!

oh yeah, it's free and stuff, maybe that might help someone get interested...

Think Dark Souls+X-Com+SimCity+Skyrim and throw that into a neat little minimalistic format and you have a good idea of what you're getting yourself into.

I tried it once after watching a video of some guy playing it, got confused, walked around for a while, died and gave up. From what I did see of it it looks like a pretty fun game if you have the patience to learn what the fuck is going on. (which I don't.)

yeah, I gotta admit, it's damn hard to latch on. And then there's the difficulty of overcoming the normal everyday obstacles that the game has.

But after it all, when you know what you are doing, it's the most fun you could have with a game of any kind.

Special tip: Do NOT give Elves wooden things. I tried that once, and now my Fortress is littered with dead dwarfs, arrows, and is a nesting ground of Kobolds.

Actually, no. They're fuckin' hypocrites! If they chop down trees, it's "specially chosen and done with spiritual intentions" but if you do it it's "barbaric and cruel and is worse than rape, murder, and the holocaust all tied in one", so yeah. Elves aren't really liked... anywhere.
