The Problem With Calling Companies 'Faceless' · 3:20pm Jul 6th, 2019
Now and again (Or always depending on what papers you read or websites you're on) you find instances of big-name corporations screwing people over for this and that, buying-out, copyright, product placement, executive meddling, etr.
But that's not it.
It's a person that's screwing people over, not always necessarily the one at the top, simply someone who has some amount of pull and thinks they can get away with it. Or someone who feels they have a responsibility and feels that this is what they must do.
Whether it's Hasbro, Disney, Microsoft, Amazon, etr, it really doesn't matter.
It's not good.
But what's worse is regarding these companies as 'faceless' as some kind of evil entity that can do no good.
Because the sad thing is that that's allowing the one chiefly responsible to go unpunished. These companies literally have thousands of people working for them. You don't want innocent people to get the short straw, that's just adding to the problem.
So, to advice whoever's listening, don't rant and rave about corporations ruining people's lives. Because that's not the whole story.
Be smart. Find out about this. Find out more about this problem, how it starts, what's being done and direct your disapproval sensibly upon the one who is actually responsible.
And most of all, learn why.
Because these are people and people have reasons.
Not always good reasons but they still need to be taken into consideration in order to make the judgement fair.
We're not always right and losing to a powerhouse can easily bring about a feeling of victimisation and injustice.
So don't just rant and rave at an icon on a product because that won't change anything. In fact, it'll probably just make the problem worse because the one responsible will learn that he can use the icon as a shield and throw innocent people also attached to that icon under the wheels.
So please, be wise when dealing with this kind of thing. Only through wisdom, patience and care can one expect to win in these situations, maybe even benefitting both parties.
Be angry if you are but don't let it drive you. It'll only end to tears.
Make sure you know the full story. Make sure you know when someone's broken the rules and when someone hasn't. Make sure you know why those rules are up and if they're worth it.
Be wise.
Thanks.
Indeed. Wise words.
