Journal Entry - Volume 3 - Chapter 3 · 10:36am May 27th, 2019

Dear Journal,

Early this morning Ember and I boarded the train heading south. Ember mapped out our route which led us to the end of the line… a city called Dodge Junction. When we stepped off the train, I was blown away by how the town looked like something out of an old wild west film! I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it, but I was so lost in the moment that I kinda acted a bit… childlike. Oh well, what’s done is done.

Ember and I headed for the Saloon to get a drink before continuing our trip. While we were sitting at the bar, a group of bandit looking stallions came in and made a beeline to a table of mares sitting nearby. Maybe not my best idea to get involved in matters that didn’t concern me, but… I don’t know. I just didn’t like the idea of a gang harassing girls! Needless to say, the stallions were… shall we say, less than cooperative. They ran off after I gave them a lesson in manners.

One of the mares, Cherry Jubilee, invited Ember and I to her home for supper and a good night’s rest before we headed out in the morning. We accepted, and allowed her to Cherry Hill Ranch. A short time later the stallions from the Saloon came to make a visit. Apparently their boss wanted to marry our hostess, and wasn’t going to take no for an answer! Ember answered the door and protected Cherry while I got the drop, literally, on the gang! They ran off again. Guess they weren’t a dumb as they looked.

We ate supper and retired for the evening. Shortly thereafter Ember knocked on my door with her own misgivings on our destination! She was really worried about what her father would decree in our case! I… I’ve never seen her like this! Ember’s always been a very emotionally strong individual, but at that time, she bordered on paranoia! Deciding it wasn’t a good idea for her to be alone, I actually invited her to stay with me! Kinda unlike me, but… to be honest with you, journal… I was pretty worried myself about our meeting with the lord of all dragons!

Stand up to bullies! Do not let their tyranny continue unchallenged!
