Journal Entry - Volume 3 - Chapter 2 · 10:34am May 27th, 2019

Dear Journal,

Ember hasn’t been herself since we arrived at Derpy’s house. She’s been rather distant lately. The last straw was when I told her supper was ready, only to find her sitting there looking out the window. Now knowing what else to do, I went to her and put my hands on her shoulders, waiting for her to be ready.

She told me the fact I wouldn’t live much longer, at least from a dragon’s point of view, seemed to really be getting to her! After all, while she wanted to follow the Dragon’s Code, she couldn’t as she had pledged herself to a creature with a significantly shorter life! It was the uncertainty of what to do about this that had brought upon this mood!

I suggested she write to her father and ask what to do! After all, fathers are there for giving advice to their children… I suppose…

Anyways, she did so and breathed fire on the scroll. Some kind of magical mailing system, I guess. We could smell the food by that point, so we went to the kitchen table! Ember seemed much happier to know something was being done on the matter!

As we ate, however, she suddenly started itching uncontrollably! My first reaction was the disease that had almost killed her in Tartarus! Luckily, it was just her father magically summoning her back to the Dragon Lands.

While I hate to leave Derpy and Dinky so soon, I guess Ember and I are going on a bit of a trip. Derpy wasn’t’ exactly thrilled at the idea either, an insisted I bring her Spear of Hope with me! On the up side, I don’t see how we could get into TOO much trouble between here and Ember’s home.

Sometimes all you can do for a suffering friend is just physically be present.
